Great hotel in the city center that deserves its 4 stars. You can stop in front of the hotel to unload your suitcases. Large, clean, quiet room and bathroom. Plenty of storage space and space for 2 suitcases. Super extensive breakfast that really deserves to be called a "continental breakfast" - it really had everything. There is an affordable, inexpensive parking, even for larger vehicles, with over 200 places at the train station of Chester. Chester railway station is about 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel. You can pay your park ticket at the counter in the station, where you can also get information about trains to Liverpool (direct connection) and Manchester. If you plan to visit Liverpool we recommend taking the train, so you don't spend time and money looking for a parking space. There are several departures per hour, travel time approx. 45 minutes. Of the places on the Welsh coast, we liked Llandudno the best. When we asked at reception, we were recommended an Indian restaurant nearby, almost opposite the hotel, and they even reserved a table for Saturday evening. It was really good. We were also able to borrow an English adapter, as our own didn't work with the laptop. Chester city centre was about 10-15 minutes away from the hotel, but not just the main road, but also the option of walking through a park and along the River Dee.

Excellent stay at the The Boathouse Inn. We stayed one night in a very comfy, clean and quiet double room with a private bathroom. We came by car and it's literally 5 minutes away from the Old Town, so location wise it was really convenient. We could eat in the restaurant for a reasonable price. Overall it was a great experience and I recommend it to everyone who wants a quiet place and not too far away from town.

The breakfast was great, food, staff and dining room was extremely pleasant. I’d been wanting to stay at Shrigley for years and my stay exceeded my expectations. The room with the view overlooking the front was amazing and I particularly enjoyed and appreciated the original features and history of the building it has a real Downton Abbey feel to it. The Dog and Partridge is near to the hotel. Bonus. External appearance of Paddington Hotel could be so much improved by some simple gardening. Some easy jet-washing would improve the external walls and general appearance. My stay was a mere 'ok'. I just happened to be in Warrington that night. Customer service was adequate, but below average. My room was functional and everything worked. It gets an 'OK' from me, but I wouldn't take my better half there for all the tea in China!

I went to Crewe to see the local area. I visited Nantwich and Sandbach. Nantwich is a lovely small town, and Sandbach is a bit bigger, both lovely to visit. The Market in Nantwich is lovely to visit, and there are a couple of National Trust places we didn't have enough time to visit, but we will do next time.

There is quite a range of shops along the high street; the surrounding houses and streets are leafy and pleasant. I found a cafe for coffee / cake / light lunch and the staff were extremely pleasant, helpful and friendly. There is quite a lot of traffic which drives through. There are great activities though as I was visiting family I did not wish to pursue them - there seem to be bowls [on a crown green - not ten pin], golf, plenty of Churches. Quarry Bank Mill [NT] is close by.

Our second stay and we feel very relaxed and at home in the hotel. We booked 3 nights but then booked another night whilst we were there. The breakfast and bar food were excellent and we ate there every evening. Unfortunately we missed breakfast one morning and I wish the meal times had been available in our room as we had paid for two breakfasts. The hotel is very good value for our purpose, visiting our daughter.
