The staff!!!!!!! They are beyond lovely, we celebrated our son’s 11th birthday there at a moments notice. In 24hrs they pulled all stops to make sure he had a beautiful birthday cake freshly baked onsite, if that isn’t going above and beyond then I don’t know what is. Thank you Team Hillbrook, we are beyond Grateful for it all.

Very friendly owner who makes you feel really welcome from the moment you arrive. The accommodation is beautifully decorated and fresh. Room was modern but kept the charm of the old building. Probably the biggest bed I've ever slept in and very comfortable. Breakfast was all locally sourced food and was delicious. The wifi was excellent and had somewhere to charge phones both sides of the bed. Accommodation is only a 5 minute walk into the centre.

The rooms were a lovely size. We had the library and garden room. The garden room was amazing with the terrace that we used daily. There is a lovely garden area for the guests, as well as a sitting room. Books and games are available for use by the guests. The full English breakfast and options were amazing. They have a wonderful chef and we enjoyed our evening meal. this was a perfect location for us to explore the Jurassic coast. All staff were delightful - very welcoming, helpful and efficient. Beautiful, grand building and great location at the foot of Corfe Castle. We enjoyed inventive fine dining in the restaurant (at fine dining prices, of course) both evenings...flavours and presentation were superb. Our room and en suite bathroom were impeccably clean with none of the shabbiness that is often a feature of older hotels.

FAQs about hotels in Dorset

Southern English Natural Charm

With one of the highest proportions of conservation areas in England, the Dorset County includes 2 ‘Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ covering more than half of its territory. It is also famous for the ‘Jurassic Coast’, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that actually represents three-quarters of the county’s coastline.

Considering that half of the population lives in the south-east of the county, Dorset is characterised by an enchanting countryside atmosphere. Languid limestone hills and clay valleys cover a big part of its surface. Loads of Dorset hotels and inns are spread throughout this area.

Shaftesbury is one of the most picturesque towns, rolling down the hill with old rural houses. A visit to the chief town of Dorchester and its County Museum is a must. Check out some of the Dorset boutique hotels located in old refurbished manor houses, and spread throughout the county.

The Jurassic Coast runs along 155 km. It includes magnificent formations like the Lulworth Cove and the Durdle Door arch, plus the Isle of Portland with Chesil Beach and its large tidal lagoon.

The cities of Weymouth, Poole, Bournemouth, and Christchurch are located along its coasts. Experience this charming piece of England, don’t miss the Booking.com special offers for Dorset hotels.

Nice little town with quite a few places to eat and drink. Also very interesting Museum with lots of history. A plaque on a wall stated on that spot on Sept 5th 1732 nothing happened. 1732 Britain changed from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar, so we had to lose 11 days, Sept 4th was followed by Sept 16th, bit of trivia there.
