From the moment we arrived at The Driftwood Greg and Lihong made us feel so welcomed. We arrived early and there was no issue in accessing our spotlessly clean room on the 2nd floor. The room was equipped with a fridge which was very handy for storing my insulin, a coffee machine, bottled water, extra towels and all the other nice things you get in high end hotels. Looking forward to returning in the future.

Quite simply outstanding. I have stayed previously, many times, at the Hydro and the Grand - the Langham is by far superior in almost every category. The hotel itself is exceptionally well maintained given the age of the building itself. All of the public areas were comfortable and impeccably clean. Room #207 was wonderful - great views, windows that open, comfortable large bed [great linens], excellent recently refurbished bathroom with modern easy to use facilities and nice range of bathroom products. Excellent wi-fi throughout - well done. We enjoyed the food and the outstanding service - the F&B staff are excellent. We were lucky enough to meet the owner Neil who exemplifies the standard of his own hotel - charming, knowledgeable, thorough .... interested in his clients. The Langham has a customer for life!

Lewes is very good as a place to stay if you are interested in history or just like browsing local shops. It also has excellent railway connections so you can get to Brighton, Hastings, Eastbourne and up into Sussex by public transport. It is hilly and a good base if you want to explore the South Downs by walking. A good range of restaurants, pubs and cafes too.

This was coupled with a trip to the De La Warr Pavilion and Hastings out of season. St Leonards has some interesting new cafes & independent shops popping up along Kings Rd near the station - possibly not enough for a sole destination in its own right but the location was handy & you can actually park in parts of St Leonards.
