Lewes is very good as a place to stay if you are interested in history or just like browsing local shops. It also has excellent railway connections so you can get to Brighton, Hastings, Eastbourne and up into Sussex by public transport. It is hilly and a good base if you want to explore the South Downs by walking. A good range of restaurants, pubs and cafes too.Guest review bypilly03United Kingdom - 10.0

A sweet little village shop full of fresh fruit and basics.
A sweet little village shop full of fresh fruit and basics. The village itself set in a beautiful part of the country, Eric Ravilious views everywhere. A range of pubs, some discreet luxury hotels now, some just relaxed medieval inns full of beams and cosy nooks. Independent, upmarket shops. Surrounded by walks and ancient churches, like St Michael's & All Angels at Berwick, which is unmatched for its calm simplicity and Bloomsbury artworkGuest review byGlynUnited Kingdom - 8.0
It was amazing!
It was amazing! I went with my then girlfriend who is now my fiancée, the staff went above and beyond to make it a special event for both of us, the room was set up for the big question and she loved every second of it, thanks to all involvedGuest review byEthanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Rottingdean is picturesque.
Rottingdean is picturesque. Little streets with old pubs, houses and a church. The windmill is gorgeous. Beaches have great walkways for kids, plus they are wheelchair accessible. Also loads of areas for walking up the hills with great views.Guest review byDasaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Besides having time with an old friend who lives in Steyning...
Besides having time with an old friend who lives in Steyning, I especially enjoyed walking up onto the Downs (via the Upper Horseshoe trail) and admiring the wonderful view of the Downs and the sea and the Weald of Sussex. I was impressed by the Community Orchard and the conservation scheme to re-establish species-rich chalk grassland. I made good use of the buses - would have been stranded without them! I enjoyed a brief visit to the parish church and was sorry not to have more time to have a good look round the museum. I enjoyed a good meal in an Italian restaurant near the Clock Tower.Guest review byGordonGermany - 10.0
Pulborough is a really quiet picturesque area.
Pulborough is a really quiet picturesque area. There are lots of opportunities for nature walks and, if you’re living in the city like I am, it’s great to get out and be around quiet for a time. The area also has several beautiful venues for weddings, which is why I went and discovered the area. It’s great if you’re looking for a cute charming village getaway. It would definitely be easier to travel around by car, but we walked everywhere and were able to manage and enjoy the views.Guest review byHannahUnited Kingdom - 6.0
We didn't see much of the place as we were staying overnight...
We didn't see much of the place as we were staying overnight before catching a ferry. The town centre was a little unsavoury with some really rough types drinking cider on street benches. We ended up eating in McDonalds as it was the place that was most inviting and bought a cake in Lidl for pudding. We saw the portside when we were leaving on the ferry which looked pretty. I might be being a bit harsh for a place I spent 12 hours in, I would love to see the good side of any place.Guest review byJonUnited Kingdom
