- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 577 reviewsWe loved everything about Beck Hall and the setting is picture perfect! The staff were wonderful, friendly, welcoming and helpful. Linda is one in a million and made our stay even more enjoyable. She made us feel like family not guests. Our room was amazing. It had everything we needed including tons of historic features. The food at Beck Hall is out of this world. So delicious and lots of choices. We would highly recommend booking a stay at Beck Hall, we absolutely love our stay and just wished we could have stayed longer.Guest review byJacquelineAustralia

There was a good choice in the bistro for our evening meal which we thoroughly enjoyed. A very pleasant accommodating group of evening staff. ThanksGuest review byMAURICEUnited Kingdom

This is a lovely and picturesque town in the incomparably lovely Yorkshire dales. There is a lovely market square with nice shops and restaurants, a fabulous Georgean theatre, a terrific castle to explore, and a nearby ruined abby that is an easy walk from the centre of town. (Every town needs a ruined abbey, right?)Guest review byBeverleeCanada - 10.0

Breathtaking scenery.
Breathtaking scenery. It’s like stepping back into a simpler time, the town itself is so quaint and friendly but the countryside walks are to die for. It’s like a walking through a real live painting! Highly recommend a visit and doing some walks.Guest review bySmith - 10.0
The village was quaint .
The village was quaint . The waterfall trail was amazing ,a must if you stay here or are just visiting for the day . The locals were so friendly and helpful . I wanted to do white scar caves but I read you had to bend down and squeeze through in places which I didn’t feel comfortable doing unfortunately. Countryside was stunning so many villages to discover in the area .Guest review byTonyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It has most of what you would expect from a traditional Yorkshire Dales village and more, with a good mix of old and new. A very traditional inn, down to earth, with a good mix of locals and visitors, sits next to a recently refurbished one, apparently aiming for the higher spending tourists. A central area offers cobbled parking in front of inns and shops. There is still a village green, (with actual local children playing), a post office, a general store and a mix of other outlets for arts/crafts, gifts, ice-cream etc. Very easy access to both the gentler riverside aspects and the wilder moorlands of the area.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Fabulous place to visit.
Fabulous place to visit. Lots of walking options including easy and accessible as well as longer and more challenging day hikes. Some evening good options including the village with others a short drive or longer walk away.Guest review byChristineUnited Kingdom - 8.0

On our first stay in 2019 we did a lot of walking and looking at incredible waterfalls. On our second stay in 2025 it was raining most of the time as a storm came through, but it didn't stop us getting out for two days of visiting Bolton Castle with an excellent tour, Grassington (where All Creatures Great and Small was staged) and a very interesting small historical museum, Wensleydale and of course, lunch and cheeses at Wensleydale Creamery Cafe!Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
I loved the decor, the facilities.
I loved the decor, the facilities. The owners have added all those practical things that most places dont have - hooks for coats, hooks for clothes in the bathroom, mirrors with lights where needed, bedside tables and lamps, enough pillows for reading in bed. We used the walking maps provided to do lovely local walks. We ate great food in local pubs. The roads are quiet, the views are superb.Guest review byBethUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Caw Cottage is simply wonderful.
Caw Cottage is simply wonderful. It has everything you will need for a relaxing stay in the Yorkshire Dales. Perfectly placed to explore this beautiful area and with Sedbergh just a few miles down the road with a number of good pubs/restaurants, everything is within easy reach. Caw Cottage is very well maintained and spotlessly clean. The bed is super comfortable too. The hosts are nearby, very friendly and helpful, but very respectful of your privacy. Caw Cottage is a gem of a place. Well worth the visit.Guest review byJulieUnited Kingdom
