From here, you can use a bus to reach Kiato, Corinth and Athens very cheaply. It is a beautiful town with nice monuments and ancient traditions. Pleasant city, active nightlife, many shops and excellent cuisine. From the Gulf of Patra you enter the Peloponnese. Go when not so crowded or hot. We did well at end of September. I highly recommend if you have a car to do a free Olive Oil tour & tasting at OILYPIAN Koufolias Olive Oil Mill about 15 min away from town. I also loved OLYBEEA for family run local honey which you may sample before you buy! Have a meal up the hill (you can walk but best with car) at The Garden :) You will dine under olive trees & get a great view. It´s a beautiful city, at the Corintian Gulf.
It´s a beautiful city, at the Corintian Gulf. You are in the middle of the old town of Lepanto, with the wall all around and the castle at the top. The town is a tourist base. Not particularly interesting or pleasant. We only went for the railway trip, but unfortunately it was cancelled on the two days we were there, due to falling rocks on the line. This doesn't happen very often apparently...we were just unlucky. The stafff were excellent. They couldn’t do enough for us. The hotel was effectively in winter shutdown, so was not operating as a ‘luxury resort’. The hotel was next to a busy main road, in the industrial outskirts Agrinio. That said, it was pleasant and surprisingly quiet. We were on a "pilgrammage" of sorts intended to seek out our familial origins and were travelling by a rented vehicle from Eurocar which we picked up at the Athens Airport. This was a major winner for us! Take your GPS with you and enjoy the encredibly well organized motor ways that would best be described as excellent in every way. Kyllini was easy to find just off the West Coast and in good striking distance for other sites. It is a port city, really, with Ferry traffic to the Islands which could have made it noisy and unpleasant. However, such was not the case with super restaurant facilities and the Greek Pastries in the local shops were simply scrumptious. Have fun!Guest review byChristopherCanada - 10

Patra has some great archaeological sites & a castle but don't visit on a Tuesday as they are closed all day. It was easy to walk where I wanted to. There were lots of buses but I didn't have time to find out where you could travel to. So for those who don't want to walk I'm sure public transport could be an option. There were many bars & cafes.
