Loved this hotel - Room was clean, comfy and spacious. When booking this hotel we knew it was nice, but it exceeded our expectations - by staying at Royal Ariston you access the full Royal Brand hotel complex (series of waterfront hotels and facilities like bars, seating, restaurants but best of all beach access all along the coast!). No. 6 bus is a breeze to catch into Old Town and is cheap. So pleased we stayed in Lapad as it was easy to access Old Town and go sightseeing in the day, but at night the hotel is just amazing to hang out at. Convinced it had one of the best views in Dubrovnik! Special shout out to the comfiest hotel slippers ever.. wish I took them with me. Recommend bringing reef shoes prior to your stay (they are expensive in Dubrovnik).. I used my hotel slippers to walk down the rocks 🤣 Breakfast buffet was fabulous, hotel gave out fresh beach towels daily. Highly recommend Kopun restaurant in Old Town. Hotel has amazing sunset views - head down to the beach chairs by the sea and enjoy! Overall felt like this was such great value for money for what we got access to.

We stayed 2 nights, the front desk staff were so kind, the location is amazing, and secure parking was 15Eu a night. We took a 10 min bus ride, bus #4, for 2.50 ea, to old town, no point driving. Wecwere room 301, stunning view of bay. Beautiful clean modern room, lots of closet space, and opened suitcase slid right under bed, as it was a small but very comfortable room Dinner option is available, as buffet, for guests at 23eu each, and there's a 11.00eu city tax to pay. We used taxi to go to Port, 5 min ride, was 18eu, so coming back we did Uber for 7.90eu The bartender would give us ice to take to rooms, or bring a drink up They have a beautiful outdoor dinning, as well as casual outdoor seating, to watch the sunset, and enjoy the views.

We had a fantastic four nights here! The kids club was amazing and had to drag my kids away at 9:30pm! the beach was just 150 meters from the pool and we would send the mornings at the pool, then beach, then pool. We did a private tour to Mostar and easily picked up at property. Location not walkable to city walls but was an easy 20€ cab ride to old town. The buffet had lots of variety and ours kids enjoyed and we enjoyed too. we got upgraded to ocean view and had a connecting room with the kids and it’s just a place to sleep so didn’t care was small as we were all comfortable. My kids are begging to come back. Would highly recommend for families and especially younger kids. our 4,6 & 8 year olds had the time of their lives.

Great hotel with nice room and facilities, it is chilled to relax and swim at the hotel beach, and we can watch the beautiful sunset right from our room. There are live piano performance and singer at the lounge bar, and they were simply gorgeous! The location is good, quiet but with all you need in the area, for those who do not drive, it is still convenient as there is public transport right opposite to hotel to the old town. We certainly enjoyed the stay!

We loved Dubrovnik!

We loved Dubrovnik! The old town is beautiful, enclosed in impressive city walls it is easy to get around, clean and felt very safe, there were no 'dodgy' areas. Lots of great places to eat and drink to suit any budget. The walls are amazing and thoroughly recommend walking them. The cable car to the top of the hill is well worth the ride and very pleasant having a drink at the top. Some reviewers have remarked on how expensive it was but we thought it was comparable if not less expensive then other european cities and we found it good value. Suggest buying the Dubrovnik pass for 40 Euro which includes the city walls and access to other museums etc, the walls on their own are 40 Euro so well worth it. We prebooked taxis to/from the airport which was cheaper, £25 each way took 30 mins. Normal taxis are readily available at Pile Gate and other areas. The yellow bus tour was good for approx 90 minutes from Pile Gate with commentray and stops to allow for good photo ops. In general the Croatians are very friendly and helpful and speak great English. Overall a lovely place to stay and nice and easy to get around. We stayed for three nights which was ideal. You could stay longer if you wanted to venture into Bosnia, Slovenia or visit nearby islands. Favourite restaurant was the Arsenal at the harbour. We did our own walking tour after printing one off from the internet or there are plenty of tours at all times of day. Love Croatia, went to Split and Brac in July and came back for more to see Dubrovnik in October, enjoy!

The Arboretum Trsteno was an interesting place, a respite from the heat. It was cool in the trees. Game of Thrones episodes are filmed at the fountain! But there is no cafe, only a vending machine. Walking down to the sea for a swim was worth it, but you need sturdy footwear, water and snacks.

Zaton is 15min from crowded Dubrovnick, just a right amount of driving on a very nice coastal road to reach the city center. The bay is so peacefull with only a couple of nice seafood and italian restaurants all "pied dans l'eau" Just sip some wine, in the water or on the decks and enjoy the sunrise, the sunset and the moonrise, between water boats and a mountain.

Definitely recommend if you want peace and quiet - at least it does provide this in low season, not sure what it is like in high season. Easy to get to from Dubrovnik. Plenty of walks. Great sandy Sunji beach, but no facilities in low season. In low season the downside was that everywhere is shuttered at 6pm so you better make sure you have supplies and a kitchen or eat early. A lot of areas also appeared rundown and areas not accessible e.g the art installation or the Rector's palace. Not to mention the monstrous white hotel building the other end of the bay which completely takes away from the beauty of the original village.

Very relaxed island, not somewhere to go if you like the bust night life & entertainment on tap. This is a place to kick back & take life a more leisurely pace. We went with our family of 11, 4 young adult children & partners, 1 teen & ourselves. There was enough to keep everyone occupied, beach, bars, boat trips, walking, reading, card games. Getting to the island is easily accessed by a ferry service & there are plenty of smaller boats for hire if those times don’t suit. There is also a good bus service to the other side of the island for a change in scenery. A lovely place for a holiday.

Orasac is a rather small and tranquil village about 25 mins.

Orasac is a rather small and tranquil village about 25 mins. car drive from Dubrovnik downtown (old town). There are several restaurants, but closed during off season, however the little bar and local shop seemed quite busy during our stay over Easter. Loads of restaurant opportunities though nearby at the Sun Gardens Resort or in Zaton, a little fisher village next to Orasac. Definitely a quiet spot to relax after a busy touristy day in Dubrovnik. Lovely views of the Elaphiti islands off shore.

I have been here two times before in the 1960’s! It was a different world. We came because my husband wanted to see it, and it is an amazing city. However, overtourism has bad effects. There are other less crowded walled cities and wonderful islands in Croatia.

Zaton was a very peaceful, small harbour village/town with a few restaurants, swimming spots, a shop, as well as opportunities for excursions. Being just off the main road there is easy access to Dubrovnik and other towns. There's a gorgeous church and woodland walk, with great views across the bay. You could easily stay within Zaton for a more secluded and relaxing break, or use it as a base to venture out from. Everyone we encountered was super friendly and helpful - English was spoken by all.
