We loved our stay! Tvrda is very well located. We walked to dinner, to the river to see the sunset, and we watched the football game outside in the plaza with a large group of people. The hotel and room were beautiful and comfortable. The pool was lovely. The breakfast was amazing. The staff was very helpful.

We stayed here for 6 nights and had a wonderful time! There was construction happening in the complex and the host was super apologetic and nice about it. Honestly, even though it was happening right outside our window, we practically forgot it was happening. I guess the sound isolation is really good. We'll definitely be staying here again when we're in the area next time. Location itself couldn't possibly be more perfect.

The room's size was satisfactory, and it was well-equipped and well heated. Dirty towels get replaced every day. The breakfast was good, and we also opted to eat dinner at the hotel one evening (15 euro per person at the time of writing - Jan 2025). The dinner included soup, a main course and a dessert - the portion sizes were big and the food was absolutely delicious. The hotel also features free private parking for guests. Osijek city centre is within walking distance, rougly 20 minutes on foot.

I adored both exterior and interior of the place. This is in fact a brewery, coffee shop and the restaurant in an old house in the old part of the city (remains of the fortress, so the district is named " Tvrđa" as a kind of shortcut or deminutive of " utvrda" what means " fortress" in Croatian language). The first flour and the attic of the house are turned in a sort of boutique hotel.

Fabulous city with beautiful buildings, river, scenery and parks plus interesting history. Well worth a visit, with seasonal direct Ryanair flights from London Stansted make it a great summer vacation or city break! Lovely friendly people and great restaurants too!

Dakovo is calm, safe and very chill.

Dakovo is calm, safe and very chill. Walking around at night was fine for a single woman - lots of restaurants and cafes. Ivandor Horse Farm was idyllic and lovely -not normally something I would do but it was really really picturesque and almost meditative.

Valpovo is a small and quiet town ideal for relaxing.

Valpovo is a small and quiet town ideal for relaxing. The park in the center is worth taking a relaxing walk but it is rather dark in there in the evening as there are barely any lights there. The surrounding of the city is full of nature. I enjoyed so much in the chamomile field taking photos for hours and listening to the wild animals. Even saw a yound deer.

We arrived on Sunday, 23 |July at about 6 p.m. after 11 hours on the road. Normally in a towm of the size of Beli Manastir there is a place where you can get a dinner and a cold beer. Beli Manastir was a dead town. Everything closed except the pertol station. Streets empty . No social life. No place for a dinner, a drink and an interaction with locals.

It's a great mid size city, plenty to see and check out, great food allover, the best ice cream I ever had in Dakovo. Friendly people, I was surprised to see so many people using bicycles here. very clean city and safe. The stay stay to short .

A pleasant and clean city, with many bars and restaurants. Cheap food and drink, a meat plate for 5 people was 25 euros. Very friendly staff and residents Despite the fact that we were at the beginning of September, outside the tourist season, there was a varied night life, the disco was open A great starting point for visiting the surrounding sights, I also recommend Vukovar and Osijek Saymoon from Slovenija

Osijek was once the second city in Croatia and still has...

Osijek was once the second city in Croatia and still has evidence of that. The collection of Secessionist buildings on Europska Ave is outstanding on a European scale and it is a disgrace that this hasn't been recognised by the EU. The historic complete military township of Tvrda is also a must visit place. The surrounding Baranje area provides tastes of a country far different to Dalmatia which is what most visitors to Croatia only experience. The Kopacki Rit reserve is a great place for birdwatching including breeding White tailed Eagles and the nearby forest holds large numbers of wild boar.

Dakovo is a hidden Gem in the heart of Slavonija (Croatia). The city centre is small but gorgeous with the Cathedral and the park for romantic walks right beside it. Even though it is not the biggest city, it is bursting with life. The centre is full of cafés, restaurants, shops and there are people everywhere chatting, relaxing, soaking up the sun. The food in Slavonija is known to be some of the best in all Croatia, and Dakovo is the perfect place to try it! Only a short drive away from Osijek, but definetly worth it! There are also the prize-winning horses to see, a market to enjoy and nature reserves and ponds nearby to relax on the hotter summer days.
