- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 769 reviewsI stayed one night to attend a wedding nearby. I totally got caught up with the day and didn’t ring until late to check in and they were very understanding. The room was warm, cosy and clean, with fabulous views. And the magic touch, they had the electric blanket warning my bed when I got in to bed with my sore feet from dancing. Will be back.Guest review byLornaIreland

If you are looking for cutting-edge city life, this is not for you. Dundalk is a former railway town, largely built round the (now defunct) works for the GNRI and with much 19th century red-brick architecture. It has a busy high street with a lot of small shops, pubs and restaurants, none are grand, it reminds me of similar towns in the UK before planning blight took hold. A lot of effort seems to have gone into smartening the place up in recent years, which is nice. Would that other towns of its scale have survived so well it would be nothing exceptional, but as so few have, it has a real charm. As a base, it is well sited to explore the countryside around, which has a long and interesting history, with a lot of historic sites.Guest review byNicholasUnited Kingdom - 10

Drogheda is a beautiful town with lots of history and places of interest, great choice of cafes and restaraunts as well as bars, St Peters Church on west Street is the most beautiful church I have ever been in and well worth a visit it also holds the shrine of St Oliver Plunket .The outstanding thing about Drogheda is the local people who are so warm and friendly.Guest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom - 10

We went for a night away to catch up with a friend, had a delicious meal and drinks and danced till closing time. Felt so safe and the whole town had great vibes. We got up early the next morning for a sauna down by the marina. Could not recommend this any more....just melted all my hangover and troubles away. Lovely people and coffee too.Guest review bySharonIreland - 6.0
The location was fine and easy to find.
The location was fine and easy to find. The staff need to be more interested in the customers. One was very kind to give my husband ice for an injury he had sustained elsewhere but the breakfast and the service was poor considering it was quiet. The soundproofing between the rooms was poor..say no more!Guest review byMary-HelenUnited Kingdom - 10

Beautiful area full of national folklore, scenic beauty, quiet friendly people and situated perfectly for a quiet time or for commuting to larger centres. It is within 2 minutes of the greenway that will safely allow you to walk or cycle in either direction towards Newry or Carlingford. Nearby trek in woods and mountains or can take in local castle and leprechauns in Carlingford along with plenty of eateries and hospitality. Newry is well situated within 10 minutes drive for shopping and bigger city options. There is a shale seashore running along the greenway with plenty of wildlife and seabirds to be seen. Great for evening rambles.Guest review byAnneUnited Kingdom - 10

Dundalk in County Louth, the wee county, provided an incredible outpouring of creativity to celebrate Brigid1500. The Northern Lights Light Show in Market Square, the murals and storefronts painted with signs of Spring and Brigid, the cultural production at An Tain Theatre and the County Museum. We were there for 4 days and we made the Proper Cafe "our cafe". The staff were very welcoming and remembered us and the food was great! We also took a bus to Carlingford and enjoyed a short hike and great views of Carlingford Lough. Also, the home of Thomas Darcy McGee, and Father of Canadian Confederation.Guest review byKathleen QuinnCanada - 8.0
Drogheda is much bigger than I expected.
Drogheda is much bigger than I expected. It’s very spread out and was quite congested with traffic when I was there so maybe a little difficult for driving if unfamiliar with the area. It is a very old town with lots of history and old buildings and has short distances to nearby beauty spots. Would need to spend a few days there to appreciate its character.Guest review byPatriciaIreland
