- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 366 reviewsDjupavik is in a wonderfully remote area on the Strandir coast. It's reached by a well-maintained gravel road that follows the shoreline. The village itself is tiny, with the hotel as its only business. The hotel buildings are historic structures that were originally part of the fish processing plant from the 1930s, which is still standing. The hotel manager/chef gives an outstanding tour of the fish factory, very highly recommended. There's an art gallery with rotating exhibits in the factory. An excellent Icelandic breakfast is included. Also available are very good homemade soup and bread at lunchtime, and really delicious lamb, fish and vegetarian meals at dinner. The dining room is cozy and filled with interesting artifacts. The staff members are friendly and accommodating. Exploring the shoreline is interesting, especially at low tide. Hiking in the area is excellent, and the hills and waterfall above the town are interesting to explore.Guest review byIsabelUnited States
- From US$404.13 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 694 reviewsFor us, this will remain the place and time where and when we saw the Northen Lights for the first time.. And what a spectacle it was! The hotel wake up alarm during the night and their alerts in the evening were paramount for this great experience. We were also lucky indeed to be there when a high intensity aurora took place. Many ingredients have to be combined :) Now, the hotel and staff. Staff is very nice. Thanks to Iulia at reception for helping us with advice and bookings. Also to Jakob in the restaurant for kindly explaining us the dishes. Hotel is well placed for many trips in the area and has an activity center on the premises. Also short or long hikes can be done. Being close to a glacier, apparently, chances for clear skies are higher. Rooms are large, same for bathrooms. Breakfast is good, food in restaurants is also very good and very expensive :)Guest review byAdrianRomania
- From US$244.64 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 728 reviewsThe accomodations and establishment are very nice. The whole feeling of this place is very unique. It's not just a place where the views are amazing, but also a farm where you can see horses and also 2 very nice dogs. You have a hot sprint outside and inside. We've been in Iceland 3 times and here we ate the best food from all the places. This guesthouse is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. I will not be surprised if in the future people will visit the west fjords only to stay here. I can't recommend it enough. Thank you so much for having us. Wished we stayed longer!Guest review byKristineRomania
- From US$229.78 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,172 reviewsIt is a place with a very special vibe. The cabin is small, but warm and has all the basics for comfort. The view is spectacular. Roosters were our neighbours, so it was a pleasure to hear them. The parking is very spacious. The facility has other options like restaurant, spa, shot with their own branded products. And there is a farm nearby and another one on the other side of the road. A perfect place for families.Guest review byNataliiaUkraine

We only spent 1 night and 1 lunchtime in Borgarnes, so my experience was limited. We would have loved to stay longer and explore more! The walk along the seaside is beautiful and a great way to get around. The pool with its hot tubs is excellent - just go here and skip the pricey spas! The town feels so safe and there are some lovely bakeries and cafes. The Settlement Museum is well worth a visit!Guest review byAlexisUnited States - 8.0
The parking by the fall is expensive at no reason.
The parking by the fall is expensive at no reason. It offers no services, like toilets. If the weather is ok and you like walking, there is a free spot closer to the city, 1mile or 1500m, with a trail to the fall. The fall and the mountain together in a pic are the postcard you imagined.Guest review byPietroItaly - 10.0

a beautiful coastal town and a great jumping off place for visiting the Snaefellness peninsula and park. Great fish and chips in a food truck parked by the harbor. A great view from the Helgafell hike near town.Guest review byMarkUnited States - 10.0

Olafsvik was a beautiful little town with everything within walking distance from our accommodation. I would like to address several reviewers comments in general about the size of the bathrooms and showers. The bathrooms have been updated. the bathrooms are on the smaller side but so are most of the bathrooms in all the hotels I have stayed at in Iceland. We travel extensively and notice differences in all of the countries we have been to that are different from our own places and each place that you go. I think it is ok to mention this so other people are aware but to complain so much about it is not necessary. I would also like to mention how wonderful their water is! It can go from freezing cold to sauna hot in a matter of seconds and it is the only country that I prefer to dink from the tap! I hope this helps :)Guest review byMelissa - 10.0

Gorgeous mountain views, restaurant with delicious and fresh food overlooking the river, clean and cute camping pods with GREAT insulation, three hot tubs, dark enough at night to see the Northern Lights (even when it's cloudy!), friendly staff (family business), cozy lounge area with vinyl records and couches, troll garden, clean and easily accessible bathrooms, showers, and kitchen!Guest review byLexi NimmoUnited States - 6.0

Stayed here because there was reasonably priced accommodations mostly on route to where we were going. The town is small, doesn't appear to be too much to it. The people were nice, it felt safe, and was by the water.Guest review byJennaAustralia - 10.0

Beautiful, remote yet friendly place. Remarkably helpful tourist centre and well maintained roads and buildings despite remoteness. You need a car to fully experience the place. Come with your food for the stay as no shops in town. Hellesandur and surrounding villages are beautiful. Recommend visiting the spa in olafsvikGuest review byLuke BainesUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Hellnar is the perfect location, close to all the major attractions on the peninsula and an ideal place to spend the night while soaking in the beauty of the landscape. There’s a charming little café just a few minutes from the Peninsula Suites that serves the best waffles with jam and whipped cream, an Icelandic classic. The views are truly out of this world, we’ve never seen anything like it. Cliffs, ocean, glacier, and moss all come together in the most breathtaking way. It’s an absolute must on your trip!Guest review byDorota KotniewiczPoland - 8.0

The annual music festival was great as ever with fine program and performing artists. The new church has outstanding acoustics and do not forget do have a glance at the old church from 1887 and the Snorri Sturluson bath originated from 13th century.Guest review byMagnúsIceland
