FAQs about hotels in Campania
Stunning Scenery and Remarkable Ruins
Wonderful beach resorts, a wealth of history and winding, cliff-hugging roads – these are just a few reasons why Campania is so admired.
Spreading around a bay, the capital Naples is a mix of monumental architecture and narrow streets. Known for pizza and pulsating life night and day, it extends along the coast towards Pozzuoli, site of a Roman amphitheatre and the Phlegrean Fields volcanic area.
The most notorious volcano is of course Vesuvius, whose eruption in 79AD destroyed Pompei and Herculaneum. The ruins of both are an amazing insight into the sophistication of the Romans. Even older are the well-preserved Greek temples at Paestum.
Agropoli sits on a rocky promontory overlooking a beach and harbour, and beautiful Palinuro is at the tip of the Cilento National Park. Other fantastic Campania resorts are on the amazing Amalfi Coast. Ravello, high on a hill, offers stunning coastal views, while Amalfi and Positano cascade down to the sea. Around the peninsula is Sorrento, home to several 5-star Campania hotels, while offshore are the fabulous islands of Capri and Ischia.
Inland Caserta has an impressive Royal Palace with huge gardens, and Avellino nestles in a valley between the port of Salerno and Benevento, site of yet more Roman remains. See Booking.com for an excellent range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in Campania.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 109 reviewsFantastic location and oozing with history. The staff are so helpful, attentive, warm and friendly. We received a generous upgraded room at check in and were also delivered a welcome gift of fruit and sweet and savoury snacks/treats brought to our room just after we arrived. Our room was so unbelievably comfortable, and maid service was perfection, always on hand to replenish toiletries, mini bar or assist to any request. We asked for plates to be cleared from our room on the first evening and when we returned, much later, our housemaid had performed a full bedtime turndown service for us, placing slippers at each side of the bed, drawing blinds, turning on bedside lamps and our bathroom was fully refreshed. Quisisana truly did welcome us and made us feel at home!! Breakfast was also amazing with a young violinist playing in the background! Excellent choices of foods at breakfast and a great variety of options.Guest review byRosemaryUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.9Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 94 reviewsElegant and luxurious stay. Staff very helpful and polite. The room was comfortable and they did housekeeping twice a day. The property is so green and has comfortable sitouts everywhere. The infinity pool is amazing and so is the thermal spa which was complimentary. They even gave us a farewell gift of tomato sauce and pasta which we loved. This clearly is one of my best stays ever - i have stayed across 5 stars over the world but this experience is the most memorable and i will always remember. Naples is, at its core, a pretty cool city, but full of striking contrasts. On the one hand, the traffic is absolute chaos, and the historic quarter, while being the heart of the city, is, unfortunately, poorly maintained. However, if we manage to look past these issues, the experience is rewarding. The food, that is spectacular (the birthplace of pizza does not disappoint!), the people are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the most modern area of the city is impeccable and well-maintained. Overall, it is a city with a vibrant spirit and top-tier gastronomy, which is worth visiting, as long as you are prepared for the hustle and bustle.Guest review byHugoPortugal - 6.0

Sorrento is more affordable than other spots on the Amalfi coast, but the huge drawback is that it is overly tourist-focused (Irish pubs?!) and you hear English spoken everywhere. The main avenue feels more like Las Vegas than an Italian coastal town. :(Guest review byNancy - 4.0

Italians can be very rude and arrogant there and it's all about making money ALL THE TIME in any way they can. Prices are double than everywhere else little markets everywhere all overly priced for tired tourists. BUco Bar is OK and fairly friendly but train station has numbers to take for information and a lot of people lined up to ask question to Trenitalia. very bad experience with trains. their own people give you different information .v ery frustrating.Guest review byColetteCanada - 10
Positone Spa a great day.
Positone Spa a great day. St Angelo town quaint and beautiful. Garden Mortella stunning on a sunny day. Castle in Ischua Porte good. Bus transportation excellent, buses every 10 minutes, you can pay onboard. Use app Rio to Rome, excellent for travel information all around the world. Tip for travelling alone, lunch instead of dinner. Eat outside instead of dinning inside, bring a book with you. Once you begin travelling alone, the world is your oyster!!!Guest review byJackieIreland - 8.0

Sorrento was the place we loved the most in Amalfi. Everywhere in Amalfi is absolutely scenic but the number of tourists can be over whelming at times as you have to queue up for a very long time for local buses and ferries etc...Guest review byMahendraSri Lanka - 10

Been on my bucket list since studying Classical Studies at school. It did not disappoint. Steeped in history and you get a real feel for the terror those people experienced when Vesuvius erupted. I climbed to the crater so peaceful now hard to believe it caused such destruction. Seeing the House of the Faun made my day at Pompeii. Herculaneum was as impressive but smaller and easy to navigate. Pompeii is huge and it was hot with no shade this makes getting around in the crowds a little more challenging.Guest review byLizAustralia - 10
Love Positano, our second time visiting.
Love Positano, our second time visiting. However, very crowded in September and can be overwhelming. Great place for a few days, especially when planning to explore nearby towns, including Capri. One of our favorite restaurants that we returned to on this trip, which is still incredible is Donna Rosa, which is just up the hill from Positano.Guest review byLeslieSUnited States - 8.0
Capri can be crowded even late in the season.
Capri can be crowded even late in the season. The marina can become overcrowded and navigating from the ferry to your apartment can be a challenge. Skip the Funicular if the lines are long and especially if you have baggage. The porters do a great job, but the cost can add up if you have several pieces of luggage. Take a taxi to your hotel/apartment upon arrival to save yourself a lot of trouble.Guest review byBart - 10

Caserta is a very underrated place to visit, but it must be seen on your travels. The palace is an unbelievable place. Check out the gardens, it is close to Napoli, Sorrento, and Capri, and an ideal location to base your Holiday. It has everything you need: Road Network, trains, and busesGuest review byIannarelliUnited Kingdom - 10

Maiori is lovely, spread out and calm. There are plenty of shops to poke about in and even more restaurants and gelato places to sample. We loved the cleanliness and safety of the sidewalks. It felt spacious.Guest review bySandraCanada
