Absolutely loved the public bath on the rooftop. It was so refreshing to have part of it outside and an actual ice cold bath. Cute to have the peepholes with shutters so you could look outside while no one could look inside. The inside bath made my skin supersmooth. Nice dry sauna. Cool idea to have shower baskets with shampoo and conditioner for specific hairtypes to choose from. There was also a magnificent massage chair 👌 the extras like ice cream and free ramen were also appreciated. Loved how they decorated it with traditional Aomori Nebuta made by a local famous artist. They had tourist information on their tv which was really helpful. Room was small but everything was there, even space to hang your clothes to dry after washing them for free. Breakfast was abundant and well taken care of with a lot of diversity. Staff were all very helpful and kind. The apple juice was delicious ❤️ This hotel is worth going to Aomori for!

Tama Hotel and sister hotel M&K is a must stay! The rooms are comfortable, with TVs and fridges, cleaned regularly and you're provided with an abundance of amenities. Amazing value for money!! The location is right by a beautiful canal and is a short walk to the JR station Rikuzen Yamashita. The owner is also super lovely and extremely helpful. I came to ishinomaki to visit Tashirojima (cat island) and Matsushima Bay and this was the perfect place to stay! The owner provided a free shuttle to the ferry for cat island, gave me breakfast from a local bakery on the way, helped me to buy my ticket and then picked me up again from the returning Ferry! He also provided free bikes to use to explore ishinomaki more. The hotel also has a cat salon with 11 cute cats you are free to go to and spend time with whenever you like! The hotel also has a cute shop with souvenirs, and the owner gave me a present from here at the end of my stay. You couldn't ask for a better place to stay. I am sad to be leaving and hope to visit again soon. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ishinomaki - it's the best!

Great location! It's near Sendai Station and shopping malls. There's also a Family Mart at the ground floor with a connecting entrance to the hotel's lobby. The staff were very professional and polite. The room I stayed in was very comfortable and quite spacious than what I expected. Very good value for money. The toilet and the bath area were separated which I really liked. A lot of Japanese hotels I've stayed in had the toilet and the bathtub in one cramped area, so this was different. Since there's no need to step into the bathtub, it's a good option for anyone who may not be able to use a bathtub. My room wasn't cleaned everyday, but they did provide new towels and amenities which they left outside the door. For those who would like to use the luggage delivery service, they offer it. I highly suggest to use this service if you'd like to travel comfortably if going to other places in Japan.

I like the restaurants' selection and their excellent service quality, which was in my experience, exceptional for ski resorts. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The city of Sendai is charming, easy to navigate (with two major subway lines, going (a) east and west, and (b) north and south-- the fare is usually under US $2.00; as well as the extensive bus lines--each bus ride costs about 200 yen--less than one US dollar), and relatively compact in size. It is not only known for its history, good museums and universities, but for its proximity to Matsushima and Shiogama (that would make an excellent day trip). The city of Sendai has plenty of parks near the city center (all within the walking distance, or a short bus ride), and some of the major boulevards are covered with magnificent trees. You must find out (from your friends or the hotel desk) where to go and dine, as Sendai is known for its abundant blessings of nature, both of the sea and the land, which translates into fresh sea food and nourishing vegetables and delicious meat. My advice, if you want to make a memorable visit to Sendai: make sure to select a very comfortable hotel (and not a business hotel). It will make a qualitative difference to your experience of the city. Also, excellent are the good hot-springs spas nearby, such as Akiu and Sakunami. Some of the major "onsen hotels" run their free shuttle service from Sendai Station. To really appreciate Sendai, you need to talk to the ordinary shop keepers and street sellers, as they retain the warm spirit of old Sendai, not the new "supersized chain-store mentality." Once you find the niche, you will expand your sense of exploration .... into the heart of the city and the entire North Eastern part of Japan.

I like the relaxed pace of Akita.

I like the relaxed pace of Akita. Learn about local history at the Akita City Folk Arts Center and Senshu Park; visit the art museums and explore Akita Arts Theatre Mille Has. I think it's also a great place to rent a car and drive out to the Oga Peninsula, or to one of the many onsen ryokan, or to Lake Tazawa. The scenery is beautiful, people are friendly and the food is hearty and comforting. Take the Shinkansen to Kakunodate and see the restored samurai residences in the cherry blossoms or the fall colors, and you can even try wearing kimono or take a rickshaw ride with a local guide. Don't forget to stop for Michinoku Pudding before getting back on the Shinkansen.

The hotel location was great.

The hotel location was great. It is directly across the street from the train station. It was very easy to get around by walking or taking the JR rail. We had an amazing view of the street below. There are many convenient stores, restaurants and eating places nearby. Shopping is everywhere. We went to “Round 1” entertainment center for arcade games. They also have bowling, karaoke and a kids zone. There is a free red bus from the station or you can take a 15 minute walk to get there. In the same parking lot we shopped at “Don Côté”, Japan’s biggest discount store.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Metropolitan Yamagata!

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Metropolitan Yamagata! The location is absolutely perfect—conveniently connected to the station, making it easy to explore the city and surrounding areas. The hotel itself is modern, clean, and well-maintained, providing a comfortable and relaxing experience. The staff were very welcoming and attentive, always ready to assist with a smile. While their hospitality was excellent, I did find that a bit more fluency in English communication would enhance the experience for international guests. That being said, their warmth and willingness to help more than made up for any language barriers. Overall, I truly enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend Hotel Metropolitan Yamagata to anyone visiting the area. Looking forward to staying here again in the future!

There is more than meets the eye in this city.

There is more than meets the eye in this city. Online guidebooks/tourist information is limited. Many of the sightseeing spots are spread out, so you need time to go from spot to spot. There are some of places not featured well in guidebooks that are still worth seeing, so plan a little extra time when you go!

Hon-Hachinohe has far more to offer than we could fit into our three-day visit—we truly wished we had stayed longer. The Korekawa Jomon Archaeological Museum was exceptional, offering a fascinating look at the area's ancient past. The Tanesashi Coast was another highlight, with its beautiful and easy-to-navigate hiking trails. In the center of town, we explored the Hachinohe Portal Museum, known as ‘Hacchi’—a six-floor space that blends cultural center, artist studios, and local exhibits. The staff there were especially welcoming and helpful. We didn’t have time to visit the Art Museum or the History Museum, Maybe next time
