Loved the view of Mt Fuji overseeing the lake from our room Also loved the Japanese-style room, and the dinner and breakfast we availed of were great. The onsens were also a pleasant experience to try, and the staff were very attentive and can speak English well. We also appreciated the shuttle back to the station.

Thé Toki is brand new and is equipped with modern and high quality furnishings, it was very spacious, quiet, very clean, we had the entire house with 2 bedrooms for 2 people, 2 bathrooms of course, and so there was plenty of room. The roof top terrace with its own BBQ and a superb view of Mount Fuiji was awesome!

Great hotel, the stuff are super nice and helpful. Family friendly. The hotel is big, clean, great onsen. The rooms are spacious, and the bed is comfortable. All floors in the hotel and tooms are covered with rugs so if you have allergies take it into consideration. They have a restaurant and went out of their way to make sure they had vegetarian options for us. The breakfast buffet had various of options, and was delicious. The only critique i have is that they serve dumplings which they write to be made of only wheat, milk and egg, so we though its vegetarian, but it had pork inside. Hopefully they will change it. The hotel is up a hill so they have a shuttle to go down to the bus station. I would recommend renting a car instead.

We had a room with the view over mount Fuji and we stayed there during the cherry blossom period, so the view was incredible! We had trouble leaving the room, because it was just so gorgeous to stay at the balcony, sip the coffee and enjoy the amazing Fuji with Cherry blossoms. The breakfast was good, with eggs and omlette stations, and again, overlooking the Fuji! Overall, an amazing experience!

For a single room it was fairly spacious compared to other single rooms I've had before. The whole bathroom is higher which is a little weird but not a problem, maybe if you're elderly this would be an issue, otherwise the room was fine, comfy bed.

The foliage fom Nov. 22-24, 2025 was superb, just at the peak of the colors for maples and gingko. The town is friendly, but frankly being overrun by tourists, and this was after the Chinese were told to cancel their trips. Mt. Fuji was out and visible most of our stay, especially in the AM until about 10:00am and after 4:00 in the PM.

Fujiyoshida offers beautiful views of Mt.

Fujiyoshida offers beautiful views of Mt. Fuji — on a clear day, you can see the mountain from almost anywhere in town. It’s very close to Mt. Fuji and other nearby attractions, making it a great base for exploring the area. I actually prefer staying in Fujiyoshida over Kawaguchiko because it’s less crowded but just as convenient and scenic.

Lake Yamanaka is such a pretty place - Mt. Fuji never showed her face during our stay for the icon lake photos but it didn’t take away from the magic. The little town just 20 mins away by bus from our domes was super cute, filled with history, culture, and more shopping.

Hokuto is a bit of an off-the-beaten-track destination, perfect for a weekend or even 3 or four days. Surrounded by beautiful nature, it's a great place for hikers - since it's located at the base of the Yatsugatake mountain range. The adventurers can go explore the hiking trails and waterfalls, but also there are charming cafes, art galleries and international cuisine restaurants splattered in the area. I would avoid going there by car on a Saturday morning, because the Chuo Express Road gets packed and it may take up to six hours to get there from Tokyo (the normal is 2 hours). So if you can, go on a weekday.

Older style accommodation situated in very narrow streets. Extremely hard to get out car up the steep driveway to park it. I wouldn’t recommend this villa for older people with mobility issues as there’s no couches to sit on. They do have floor cushions. Does have a great rooftop with a view of the mountain which was a positive.

I recommend staying. I wrote a long review separately which I hope is useful; please refer to that. We stayed for just one night to have the amazing view and cheaper hostel prices. One night in yamanakako, one night in kawaguchico, is perfect. Yamanakako is quieter and less touristy, which is exactly what we wanted. However, the bus schedule limits how many places you can go cuz they come every 1 hr
