Gorgeous Place, 10/10 for the most beautiful little accommodation I have stayed in Sri Lanka so far. Apart from the close location to the Lions Rock the Garden and Rooms give you a stunning Bali Vibe with a Pool within flowers and pretty Trees. On top to that the Staff just made our stay perfect, because they are super attentive, sweet and will arrange whatever wish you have. Thank you for the most amazing time there!

Great brand new hotel with spacious rooms and a nice pool to cool down after climbing up the rocks. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful, they gave us advice on where to eat/drink and arranged transportation at a very reasonable price. The breakfast is excellent, you cannot eat it all. We were served fruits and freshly squeezed fruit juice, then omelette and next pancakes/local specialty halaba. Also, if you go up the road leading to the hotel you’ll see the fields and a nice lake, perfect location when you’d like to get a break from the tourist crowds

I absolutely loved this place and I highly recommend it! The rooms are spacious and clean with a comfortable bed, and the bathroom has some real hot shower. The swimming pool is very nice to enjoy after a hike. The place is surrounded by nature and quiet, and at a walking distance from the best restaurant (Kenoli) and from the best spa (Serendip), and also at 20 min walk from the entrance of the fortress of Sigirya. You can get free bottled water anytime. The place is safe as there is always someone at the entrance. The owners are also very kind, this place is full of good energies and very peaceful. Thank you for everything 😊😊😊

The resort is brand new having only opened March 9th 2024 and all the facilities are exceptionally clean and modern. Our stay was very comfortable and the large swimming pool was perfect after a hot day of climbing the Lions rock and visiting the ancient city, both of which are very close to the resort. The staff are highly motivated and helped us with all our needs. I highly recommend this place.

This place offers free bikes, don't miss the lake tour at sunset which is really a great nature experience and your own small Safari. One of the most tranquil and peaceful stays of our travels so far. Everything about this property was outstanding - the staff and the service , the room which was spacious with comfortable and huge bed , plunge pool and overlooking greenery , spacious and huge bathroom . We had booked the stay which included their Ayurvedic doctor and treatment and it was heavenly. Top notch quality and very peaceful. Note that the Ayurvedic Center closes at 4pm and rightly so. Would advice to choose full board ( breakfast , lunch and dinner) and opt for Ayurvedic food ( if you prefer vegetarian) . The food was clean , light , local and tasty. We also saw a peacock in the morning right beside our room. The team also provided us very good tips on the time we should visit the lion rock ( for sunrise to avoid crowds) and helped us book a safari to the Kaudulla national park which was one of the highlights of our stay. The property is built on over 70 acres and gives you the green , lush, expansive feel. Thank you to the staff - Chandana ( manager) , praveen , Hasitana ( the chef) and the two people who served breakfast. Everyone serves with a smile and a peaceful demeanour . I had also shared that it was my partners birthday ( a few hours before arriving) and they had made such nice birthday arrangements ( balloons , cake , room decor ). We will surely refer this place to our friends and family and be back here for sure .

From the moment I arrived, the place felt like a peaceful little island – calm, welcoming and full of heart. As a solo traveller, I really appreciated the gentle, discreet attention that made me feel safe, welcome and comfortable. I changed my plans and extended my stay here. The huge buffet, both at breakfast and dinner, offered a wide variety with something for everyone – always tasty and satisfying. The pool was big, clean and inviting, and the whole place had a calm, friendly vibe. Special thanks to Nilan and his team – you truly made it feel like home. Bohoma istuti!

This was our 4th visit to Wild Grass and once more it didn't disappoint. Loved everything! Wild Grass is absolutely stunning and so peaceful. The villas are very modern but sympathetic to the surroundings and so spacious. AC was very efficient. And the bathroom!!! Loved it, especially the outdoor shower. Since our last visit some of the villas now have pools overlooking the lake. I'm so glad we decided to go with one of these rooms. The staff and Mr Nimal all went out of their way to be helpful.

Stunning location, monkeys are swinging around the trees during the day and very close to both rocks to climb. Staff were SO friendly and helpful, they could not do enough to make your stay more pleasant. Bed was so comfortable! Could not recommend it enough.

I didn’t come to Sigiriya to explore the town itself, but...

I didn’t come to Sigiriya to explore the town itself, but purely for the iconic Sigiriya Rock—and it was absolutely worth it. The experience was incredible, with stunning views from the top. My friends and I climbed up for sunrise, which I highly recommend as the best time to go. Just be prepared: there are a lot of stairs—some carved directly into the rock, others metal and uneven. We visited in November just after the monsoon, so it was warm and the climb had us sweating buckets. If you plan on taking those perfect social-media photos, bring a spare T-shirt… or do what I did and let AI handle the magic! Although the ascent was tough and left us literally out of breath, the moment we reached the top made it all worth it. The views were truly breathtaking—quite fitting, since the climb already took my breath away.

So make sure you depend on weatherly and visit Matale when it shows many continuous sunny days. Even on cloudy forecasts do not visit as all mointain tops then will be covered and you will not see the sights. when it is humid leaches also will be active and will become a painful experience.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed for two nights in the end as we got to sigiriya late. This meant we ate dinner one night at the little hut which wass great, climbed the rock, then moved on to the habarana which was also interesting to wander and eat.

We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from Adam's Peak!) but instead chose the much shorter Pidurangala which afforded a fabulous view of Sigiriya. Highly recommended. A visit to the Bawa hotel, Heritance Kandalama, is well worth it as an insight into the brilliant architectural mind of Geoffrey Bawa.

Mainly there are 10-12 attractions in Matale. As I just stayed one day which was not sufficient to visit all the places. Among them where I went were also hampered due to the rain at time to time. Generally Matele was quit good tourist destination if it is planned well with couple of days.

The weather is very calm.

The weather is very calm. Recommended time to start climb is 5.45 AM. So worthy to watch the surroundings from top of the Sigiriya. You can learn a lot about Sigiriya. You can get a guide if you want from the entrance.

Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya. We stayed there for 4 Nights and could cover the heritage sites easily. Dambulla Caves are a must-see and so is Sigiriya (just 16 Kms. away). Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are around an hours drive but Dambulla is much well-connected and less touristy.
