First impressions weren't great, its an old building. But the rooms are clean, the bed and its linen are superb, theres nothing not to like. The wc and shower were spotless .
I had a drink on the bar and also ate there the Sea food platter was absolutely amazing, so much food for a really great price. The overall menu looked to have many choices. (there seemed to be quite a few meals collected throughout the evening).
Free parking on the road directly at the front of the hotel.

Absolutely marvelous: Riverstone House is a Little gem in the middle of a beautiful garden. Ken and Jenny are lovely hosts, super helpful and prepared us an amazing breakfast in the morning- thank you! anytime again… can only recommend!!!

Loved our stay here a perfect stop on our trip sadly it was only for one night but that doesn't mean we wont be back in the future.
The room was very comfy and cosy, with everything and more that we needed for our visit.

A quaint town that is known for its dark skies -- it was a wonderful experience stargazing at night. During the day, the lake provides a wonderful backdrop for pictures and the area is rich in history. We also enjoyed the fish and chips by The Better Batter -- definitely a must try!

We were travelling on to another destination so had only planned to stay 1 night. Geraldine is a lovely township. Worth a visit. The Barkers shop is a must. The café is superb. Plenty of other excellent places to eat. Everything pretty much within walking distance.

The bakehouse pies are worth queueing for. There are a couple of nice shops - not much else there although you could visit the nearby hamlets which looked to have some interesting features.
We tried to walk along the river but the path was quite overgrown.

Lovely comfortable older-style motel not far out of Tekapo. Has been refurbished and had everything we needed. Shower was great & beds were very comfortable. Surprisingly quiet despite being near main road. Host was friendly & welcoming. Maybe a little small for more than 2 or 3 people or for more than a couple of nights. Travellers need to bring all food etc as no shops in settlement.

One of the most photogenic places in the South Island -...
One of the most photogenic places in the South Island - plenty of activities available - although most are strictly weather dependant (i.e. helicopter flights) but it's also a nice place to relax - there's a reasonable range of restaurants and cafes, a very well stocked supermarket and enough perfect camera angles to fill a book! We experienced a glorious sunset on the first night at Tekapo but woke the next day to find five inches of snow on the ground and both roads in and out of the village closed which was a bit concerning. By midday it had stopped snowing and the sun came out to reveal a veritable winter wonderland scene - not bad for spring!

Geraldine is a pleasant place to stop overnight on your way to Christchurch or Tekapo. There are a lot of facilities for a small town.
We had a nice brunch at Verde which I can recommend for it's nice food and surroundings.

The location worked out for our travel arrangements. It was different and the owners were hard working and was a good overnight stopover. A restaurant/hotel was located 6 mins up the road and a little general store across road with a bit of history and garden furniture to see.

The scenery was just magical.
The scenery was just magical. Stunning colours, peaceful landscapes. The dark skies were incredible down at the church of the Good Shepherd. My camera picked up an aurora. Magnificent.
Trip up Mt John was really worth it. Amazing views but hold onto your hats!
One thing I disliked was that I have food allergies and most places were not prepared to assist me. I found it quite distressing. TLV was the exception and the meal, especially created for me was delicious.

Geraldine is an attractive little town and a great place to stay. It has interesting shops and restaurants. Grandpa's Toys is a great wee toy shop. Verde is a lovely place for lunch and breakfast. The Village Inn is a warm, friendly place for dinner. They have a new Thai restaurant, a very good Indian, and Barkers, where you can have breakfast and lunch and buy their great food products. There is also a lovely little cafe up in Woodbury. Woodbury also has a beautiful church.
