Room was serviced daily to a perfect state, very thankful to the staff for looking after us. Plenty of information about Taupo is available in the reception and room. Location was perfect, great views of the lake and surrounding areas. Quick walk to the shops and restaurants, parking was available at the property. Pool and spa area was central to the property so easy to find and use.

Taupo is much better visited outside of the busy periods (school holidays). When there's less traffic and you can get around without issue and finding a carpark is more likely. So much to see and do and many amazing restaurants. Spent 8 nights at four Okahune motel/apartments in early October. The town centre and the railway station front are the major leisure venues. I have taken a lot of photo/video streams in town and along the road to Turoa ski field. Accommodation and F&B services are above average, and many selections. Many local activities(rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking and most importantly, snow sports) are available, and the tourist info centre is well located, and the staff there are helpful and welcoming. picturesque town with snowy mountain, stream and falls to visit.Guest review byEmilyNew Zealand - 10

My connections with Taumarunui are mostly through the Tiger Moth Club which was formed there in 1969 and returns every October to the best grass aerodrome in New Zealand. Unfortunately the unit we stayed in was infested with ants which were in the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom. We awoke to find them in our beds and crawling all over us. Most unpleasant experience. I advised the manager but he didn't really apologise and I believe he was aware of the situation. His response was that he would need to get a pest controller in. The empty Chateau is a shame but we hope that will be sorted soon. The neglected buildings in the village on both sides of Bruce Road is not a good look. Hopefully they will be restored and have tenants soon. My baby and I stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed everything about Waiouru. We were at the Oasis motel which is across the road from the Z gas station and next to a Diner,bakery, bar & bottle store which breaks off from the motel but still far away from the rooms. Kurutau is a beautiful very peaceful with amazing local and friendly people. We went on the river run fantastic and then a swim in the Lake. The weather is fresh, crisp nice and chill in the evening. My daughter's bach was right on top of Omori breathtaking view of the Lake and we could walk down for a swim.
