Excellent location situated in a beautiful park on the river bank, a few minutes from the old city. Staff very friendly The room is good equipped looking to the river, very clean, nice bathroom and toiletries, the pool is small but wonderful. Breakfast was delicious in a very nice room, l highly recommend this hotel

This is our second visit to Fatima. The Mercure in Fatima did not exist when we visited over ten years ago and we are so pleased that this hotel is now a lodging choice for pilgrims. It is clean, bright, has large rooms and is located adjacent to the pilgrimage site. Diana, the multi-lingual manager, was exceptionally attentive, going out of he way to assist us.

I went to Coimbra for a conference.

I went to Coimbra for a conference. I stayed in old town so I could walk and get a taste of both downtown life and being at the conference submerged in my field of work. Coimbra was enjoyable. Safe, quiet but everything a town has to offer. A selection of restaurants, reliable and accessible transport and some interesting walking tours that give you some history of the town and its culture and important significance. As well as lots of hills to walk up and down.

Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the homes of the three children. This was an incredible experience! It made the Fatima experience real for us, as the homes and neighborhood are preserved as they were when the children lived there. The houses are full of memorobilia of the family.

Aveiro is a great place with plenty to see and do.

Aveiro is a great place with plenty to see and do. Many lovely places to eat and drink. We stayed for 10 days but I think 7 would have been enough. Must not miss a visit to Costa Nova with the gorgeous coloured houses, also a boat ride is a must. There is a very nice in door shopping centre very close to Hotel Mercado.

I had never been to Nazaré before.

I had never been to Nazaré before. We mainly went to see the big waves and surfers on Nazaré's northern beach. It turned out to be a rather charming town with stunning views of the nearby cliffs. There are many restaurants serving seafood in the town, but there are also places for meat lovers. The Christmas lights added to the cosiness at night. We easily reached the observation deck with the fort by funicular. The waves were not the biggest, but they still provided a lot of positive emotions. There were also quite a few surfers. It was quite warm, and we spent almost the whole day in the upper part of the town. We ended the evening in a cosy restaurant, enjoying the local seafood cuisine.

Fascinating history of wool and textile industry, with museums of the past, factories of the present to visit, and futuristic visions created by the New Hand Lab with its web of international artists and strong commitment to local schools and universities. Covilhã is a wonderful place to stay, the gateway to nature trails and stunning landscapes. Nature lovers should keep away from Torre Serra da Estrela and discover the raw beauty of this huge natural park! Very hospital, generous people. (NB: number 5 below "popular places of Covilhã" fails to include its special features)

Liked the history, culture and compact nature for getting...

Liked the history, culture and compact nature for getting around. The walled town and Obidos castle were highlights. Lots of little outdoor cafes and restaurants to choose from. Close enough proximity to drive to other places for day trips such as Praia Da Foz Do Arelho and Bacalhoa Budha Eden.

Up market Resort with excellent beaches and plenty of good accommodation. Everywhere is very clean and tidy and there are some excellent supermarkets like LEclerc in the town. A good place to use as a base for venturing elsewhere especially up into the mountains which give fab motoring.

We loved this city.

We loved this city. It’s not tourist-packed town and it’s a perfect size, with lovely parks and nice shops and restaurants. People better are kind. That will help you with any language barriers if you’re patient. We enjoyed a nice ramen dinner nearby. Prices are reasonable in the city. The weather was beautiful and became cooler in the evenings.

If Viseu was near the ocean I would've moved there inmediately. Lovely streets to wander around, parks and local shops and restaurants. Lovely architecture to admire and just love the ambience. The N2 national road passes through here and it's close to a great metal festival.

Peniche town is charming, a tiny jewel on the dramatic coast...

Peniche town is charming, a tiny jewel on the dramatic coast with beaches, cliffs, islands, historic buildings and twisty streets, and views. It's pretty small; consider a visit to the whole region (get a car; public busses run but are infrequent) not just to the town of Peniche. I would recommend visiting that whole section of coast.
