The hotel is in an old building which has been renovated carefully. They took care of every details during the renovation. It is located in the center of the small town just stone throw away from the river and railway station. As ithe rooms located in the back of the hotel are very close to the rails, it advisable to use some earplugs during night if you are a light sleeper. The breakfast is great with local products and fresh fruits. It is a real great value for money!

The suite Ribeira was enormous with great views to the river. 2 restaurants offering great food, cocktails and nice wines. The indoor spa facilities were very sophisticated. The pool is heated, a sauna and steam rooms were also amazing, with great views to the Douro river.

Great space to chill and relax: pool, bar area, restaurant with great local food and wine. Super friendly staff. The breakfast was absolutely amazing, we have been travelling in Portugal for a bit and this was by far the best we had. There were lots of healthy options, including vegetables (which we really appreciate), but of course the typical pancakes, breads and such were available too.

    Unforgetable place for us. Facilities, landscape, bedroom, staff, all 5 stars. The natural scenario where the hotel is. It is brearh taking. Amazing, sorry, super amazing staff. Amazing breakfast. We had this incredible dinner. We are planning to come back in the summer. There is lots of activities to do there: rafting in the beautifull Paiva river, trecking, horses, etc. We totally recommend.

    The staff surprised us with cake and a bottle of wine on our arrival (it was my husband's bday). Beautiful hotel, spectacular views, great food, friendly staff, a chef's garden, vineyard and relaxing pools and spa. We enjoyed our time relaxing. What a wonderful treat after walking the camino portugese. The sommelier, Ferminio, was so friendly and kind. We will recommend to friends and family.

The highlight of our stay was definitely the stunning apple orchards, which added so much charm to the experience.     Fabulous welcoming by friendly and helpful staff. We were lucky to be proposed a free upgrade to their suite which was an absolutely beautiful accommodation wtih Jacuzzi, Terasse and all. The Douro Suites' garden peaceful garden, library blend perfectly with the stunning river & region itself.

    The ultimate best vineyard we visited was Gueda (Vilarinho dos freires) both in terms of port wine and experience. Luís serves a plate of appetizers along with the wine and port. His portions are the most generous we had. To plan a visit, send an email through their website and Luís will answer instantly. He can provide the phone number of an excellent taxi driver (Antonio). Luís is very entertaining and enthusiastic about his art. He takes you in the middle of the vineyard (a very short walk) and to the tasting room. It’s the best experience we had in Régua. :)

    Nice and modern hotel with a relaxing atmosphere. Nice restaurant with a view on the hill. We also enjoyed the indoor heated pool. The hotel is located in an area of cheap apartment buildings and the surroundings are not enjoyable. Seen from the outside, the hotel is also ugly, except from the outside swimming pool area.

    Quaint little town on the Doura Valley.

    Quaint little town on the Doura Valley. It's built on a fairly steep hill, so bring your walking shoes! Good choice of restaurants (although check opening times). Lots of river based attractions (cruises) along with wine (port) tasting. If you don't like port or watery things avoid.

    Vila Real is a nice town with all factilities available, some nice and affordabled places to eat or have a drink. It is within 30 minutes of driving from the Douro valley. A great ride will bring you in the wineries over there. Be prepared that wine tasting in the Douro valley is overpriced.

    I am so thankful this small hotel was recommended to us. Our host,Felipe was by far the most gracious person we encountered during are time in Portugal. The hotel was warm with so many extra touches to make you feel at home, and our room had a fantastic view of the Douro River. There was an excellent breakfast each morning. The house cat,Mia was a kick. If you are in the Douro, I highly recommend you stay at Imaginario d'El-Rei.

    Breathtaking views. The area is stunning and so peaceful. We drove into some of the small villages and the locals were so friendly. We prefer to eat away from the tourist areas and we were not disappointed in this area. The food was fresh and tasty and very reasonable.

    The Quinta de Sao Luiz, where we were staying, made a reservation for us at a restaurant in Tabuaco. The drive to the restaurant was challenging due to the serpentine road and rainy weather. I don't think there was much to do in that small town, but we had an okay experience at the restaurant.

    Beautiful place by the Douro river.

    Beautiful place by the Douro river. But it is a bit far from other attractions and villages. Also no supermarket or restaurants nearby. You have to take the train or car to get there. But if you want a special experience in the beautiful Douro valley, this is the place.

    The hotel is situated in a quiet spot which suited us perfectly as we wanted to chill. There’s nothing much to do in the area. If you’re looking for boat trips, wine tours etc it might be better to stay further up river in Pinhao or Porto.

    This is a great place to spend the best time in the Douro Valley and enjoy the surroundings with the best views, terrace vineyards and wineries. The outdoor pool attracts you even more, especially if you have a teenager who wants to spend time around the pool / beach.
