We liked it all, the staff was extremely professional and nice at the same time. The room was modern and very clean. The charger for the electric cars is a plus that the hotel offers for a small charge which is for sure less than in any public charging station.

When I made my advance reservation months ago, I was a bit skeptical because the hotel was brand new with only one online review. However, the photos were beautiful and the location seemed amazing, so I went through with the reservation. And upon checking in, I was not disappointed. The hotel and room were very clean. Our room was loft-style with a view of the Douro River, which was located just around the corner from the hotel. The breakfast was also amazing with a variety of bread, pastries, fresh fruits, etc. Location was also amazing. It's located in an alleyway in front of the Douro River and around the corner from the Church of St. Francis. Overall, my family had an amazing stay and will definitely come back during our next visit.

The breakfast buffet is beautifully presented. Every thing is very fresh and refilled quickly. The staff does an amazing job of making sure that every guest has everything they need. Lovely experience. I was especially pleased that the buffet mamagee asked if I had any food allergies on my first visit and remembered on subsequent visits. Little detail that kept me safe and I appreciate it.

FAQs about hotels in Norte Region

The Essence of Portugal

With fabulous beaches stretching from Caminha by the Spanish border to just south of Espinho, Portugal’s Norte region is known for beautiful scenery and historic cities.

Most Norte hotels on Booking.com are in its UNESCO World Heritage-listed capital Porto (or Oporto). Attractively spread over hills, it has wine cellars storing port from the Douro River Valley vineyards upstream.

Voted one of Portugal’s most liveable cities, Vila Real has the Mateus house overlooking a peaceful pond. Guimarães boasts a UNESCO World Heritage-listed historical centre and is known as the ‘birthplace of the Portugal’. Its stately castle and the Palace of the Dukes of Bragança are well worth a visit.

Bragança itself is by Montesinho Natural Park in north-east Norte, and a keep remains from its former castle. Chaves also has a castle keep and a Roman stone bridge, but unlike Braga, it no longer has remains of its Roman baths, erected over hot springs. Braga’s crowning glory is the Bom Jesus do Monte sanctuary, set high in hills, with a wonderful staircase and garden overlooking the city.

South of Galicia is the beautiful Peneda-Gerês area, Portugal’s only national park, and to its west is Viana do Castelo with its Norte beach hotels set on Blue Flag beaches. Also noteworthy is impressive Basilica de Santa Luzia, surveying the riverfront town below.

I recently stayed at Sin Sexes Hotel in Douro, and it was an unforgettable experience. The breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape were absolutely stunning, making every moment feel like a dream. The bed was extremely comfortable, providing a perfect night's sleep, and the spa facilities were top-notch, offering a truly relaxing retreat. The breakfast was delicious, with a variety of options to suit all tastes. Additionally, the proximity to local wineries was a fantastic bonus. The wines we tasted were exceptional, adding to the overall charm of our stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with any requests and ensure we had a pleasant stay.I highly recommend Sin Sexes Hotel for anyone looking for a luxurious and serene getaway in Douro. It truly exceeded all our expectations.

Beautiful place if you are traveling in north Portugal and the huge plus is the 3 minutes walk from the hotel to the adventure park. Hotel is lovely with an amazing outdoor pool, great service, option for a chef dinner that we enjoyed. we took the suite room and the only issue with that is the bed, which was too soft for us and not really comfortable. Area is so green and great for hiking.

Porto is a very beautiful city and perfect for anyone who enjoys walking. The streets are full of character, and every walk seems to lead to another great viewpoint or hidden corner. We especially enjoyed the view from Ponte Luís I, which offers stunning scenery over the river and the city. The wine tasting tour was another highlight of our trip and a great way to experience Porto’s famous wine culture. Overall, Porto is a charming city with plenty to see, do, and enjoy on foot.

It has a lot of history, with older churches and castle fortresses. Very walkable and scenic. I was told by a Portuguese local early in my trip that Braga has a lot of older retirees visit and reside there, and that's accurate. I found Braga affordable, although housing costs can be too much.

This small city was an absolute gem - stunning ancient squares and streets filled with lovely cafes and restaurants, altogether not as touristy as it could have been and very easy to walk around. We dined in two of the main squares with traditional Portuguese cuisine and inexpensive wines, and lovely ice cream outlets. We took the cablecar up the hillside and walked back down. We visited the Ducal palace (fantastic reconstruction) and castle (ruin). We could easily have spent a week here relaxing and taking in the atmosphere. And very easy to reach from Oporto.

I love Chaves, small ancient town which has a river going through it with its own Roman bridge going across it… wonderful restaurants, the food is amazing here in the north of Portugal! Amazing places to stay with fabulous Portuguese restaurants! You’re also close to one of the nicest wine regions in the world! If you drive go trough Régua up the Douro where the grapes are grown! Bustling city with plenty of cafes and eateries, slightly off the usual tourist trail. The Castelo de Braganca was well worth a visit. We thought the prices in the city were very reasonable. Watch out if you are using an old satnav - we were directed up a very steep, narrow street which turned out to be a dead end. The reversing down the cobbles and a 37-point turn were a challenge!

This place gets a well-deserved 5 stars—no doubt about it!

This place gets a well-deserved 5 stars—no doubt about it! From the moment we walked in, it felt warm, cozy, and totally like home. It’s huge, sparkling clean, and honestly… it looks even better than in the photos (and that’s saying something!). Usually with apartments that look this good, you think: “Yeah right, too good to be true.” But nope—this one actually turned out to be better than too good! It’s got everything. And I mean everything: coffee machine, iron, washing machine, dishwasher… you name it, it’s there—and all in tip-top shape. We were just the two of us, but there’s more than enough space for 4 or even 6 people to hang out comfortably. And the view… wow. Just wow. Need a room with a view? Look no further—this is the one!
