You get multiple chances for drinks (alcoholic and non) and 3 meals a day which are very tasty. From start to finish we were made to feel welcome by the whole team who clearly love their jobs and are very passionate about conservation and all things nature.
Our guides Lungi and Yohan were both incredibly knowledgable and friendly. Riaan’s bush walk was a particular highlight - what this man doesn’t know, isn’t worth knowing!
We have all done safari before in different parts of Africa but all agreed this was the best experience we’ve ever had and will definitely look at coming back in the future.

Such a treat to live almost alongside the animals (from a safe distance!) and to observe in natural surroundings. Saw so many beautiful creatures and I loved that the lodge was respectful and conscious of the environment in terms of the minimal impact construction of the accommodation (beautifully equipped luxury tents) and yet struck a really lovely balance with comfort and beautiful design. A very special experience that we will treasure forever.

The size of the lodge meant we got excellent dedicated service - Bulela the guide is extremely knowledgeable and the drives were 10/10. Thando and Kesa on front of house are so friendly and the food was great. The property is newly renovated and the finishing touches / attention to detail complete the whole experience. We will be back!

Unreal experience! HillsNek will make you feel in the heart of nature while offering you the best service and luxurious feeling. Having only 4 lodges, the whole experience felt very personal and private while at the same time enjoying the feeling of community with the other guests during game drives and meals. Our ranger Tim did his best to show us everything we wanted to see and more while making us feel safe and sharing great stories. Renzo and the staff made sure to be ahead of every of our needs. We even had the elephants coming to drink in the pool twice during our stay - it's not just great marketing ;)

A Wonderful stay, we stayed here for 1 night. We did the bush safari with guide Connor and the giraffe walk with guides Christoff and Göze. Great experiences!! The guides definitely know what they are doing. In the evening a romantic sunset dinner has been arranged at our accommodation. Andre did a great BBQ for us, it was a great night. The contact with the hostess before the arrival was also very good.
I would definitely recommend this stay.

Wonderful experience! Staff was friendly and promptly met every need. Food was good. Rooms were comfortable. We loved watching wildlife from our tent windows and deck. We enjoyed the hippo family at the lodge. We saw lots of animals on our game drives.

I believe there are around eight lodges working Amakhala and it doesn't seem congested but seems just the right size. The amount of different animals to be seen no congestion of game run trucks is great

We did an afternoon Giraffe walk through Bellevue Lodge and...
We did an afternoon Giraffe walk through Bellevue Lodge and it was amazing - we were taken on a safari vehicle onto a game reserve and from there had to find the grazing giraffe. Once we spotted them, we drove close by and then got out of the vehicle to walk close (but not too close) to the giraffe to watch them eat their dinner. It was a lovely experience, and our guide Stephen was knowledgeable and friendly, answering all our questions.
We stayed at the Bellevue Lodge for 1 night, it was a lovely small property with friendly staff.

Old style of buildings but in the based in the nature. Super bedroom and in the morning all kind of animals where in front of your room. Also the Akmala Game reserve tour is highly recommendable because we saw so many wild animals (lions, rhino's, cheetahs, secretary bird,...)
The dinner in the lodge was superb.

This was a new listing , and we were the first guests, LUCKY US!! The facilities offered are too many to mention. An updated kitchen with everything that opens and closes and more. Filter water on tap, a wine fridge, every spice that you can imagine. If you have forgotten anything at home, no stress they have it. A beautiful, clean, large family home. The beds are comfortable, shower pressure is great, wifi, dstv and views from every bedroom. Our host Larraine was wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. This gem is a true home from home

The staff at Amakhala were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. the room was large and when you came back after the second safari they had turned the lights on. folded down the beds and put the heating on. That is a really great touch from the staff.
The Park Rangers were very good. We had Jessie and he was very informative and had a great sense of humour. He really did his best to find the animals we all wanted to see and made it a special experience.

Amakhala Game Reserve is a haven for wild animals and a...
Amakhala Game Reserve is a haven for wild animals and a brilliant place for a safari. Many of the animals used to roam the land 100 years ago before the land was used for farming. In the early 2000's the land was returned to its natural habitat and the animals reintroduced, with the aim of conservation and breeding of endangered species.
As it is in a malaria-free area, it is the perfect location for a safari for people who get bitten by mozzies!
There were only a few jeeps out on drives at any time, so you rarely come across other people. There are several lodges in the reserve to choose as your base (we stayed at Safari Lodge, which was brilliant).
