The location was really cool, on a hill, but wasn't that far a walk from the train station. It was nice to wake up in the morning and watch the sunrise from the big windows. The history of the property was nice as well, it was a unique place to stay. The shower was great too.

Great reception staff. Large room - view of the castle was amazing!! Well worth the small extra fee. Breakfast was included and was excellent!!

Back in 2019 I stayed at 123 hotel Fukuyama. It was not available this year, so I got this instead. Honestly, I don't regret it. Everything was an upgrade. The room is big, the bed comfortable and the bathroom clean. I honestly have nothing to gripe about. This booking was a bull's eye.

Communication was excellent. Easy check-in process. A beautiful and charming old building that has been lovingly restored and continues to be lovingly cared for. Everything was available for use and it was a comfortable stay.

It is a steep walk up from the station but the view is wonderful. It’s only c.1,000 JPY for a taxi if you don’t want to walk. You’ll be up here anyway to see Senkoji etc. Even better were the staff who were incredibly helpful and friendly. We stayed here 2 nights and then spent 2 days doing the Shimanami Kaido. We liked the hotel so much we then returned to this hotel for a final night in Onomichi after the cycling. We’ve now spent 8 weeks in Japan across 3 trips and Onomichi is arguably our favourite town / city.
