Don't miss Camellia if you visit Hikkaduwa. We spent a week in the charming mansion Camellia, centrally and quietly located, a few minutes walk away from the beach and center. The building is a little hidden from the street and is surrounded by a blooming garden. The room with all amenities was spacious and quiet. Our host Paddy spoiled us with a delicious and varied breakfast, he showed us the eating habits of the country with the respective national dishes. His humor and knowledge of the country and its people was unique, he helped his guests and also us with reservations, excursions and transfers. We highly recommend this property and will book this accommodation again on our visit.

This is the best accomodation you can book, it is clean, nice, comfy beds, swimming pool and garden (also with monkey), wifi and a/c work perfectly. We really enjoyed staying at Villa Shanaya. The place is green, quiet and relaxing. It has been lovely to wake up to birdsong. Also we saw chipmunks and monkeys in the morning. The location is also great as it is far from the railway, so it is quiet and not far from beaches - turtle beach and Hikkaduwa beach (the one without waves) - 10 min max. The room is large, with a balcony. There is a common balcony and kitchen where you can cook if you want. They provide one big towel and soupe. If you need something else, you need to take it with you. During our staying we have not noticed any insects, the room was clean.

The daily manager Sisira and his family and staff are the perfect hosts- they are professional and attentive, not intrusive and leave you to your privacy on your porch/balcony. The garden and the pool are beautifully kept and maintained. The location is perfect in the quiet backstreets off the busy main road, yet close to restaurants and the beach. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. We were so lucky that Sisira offered to cook dinner for us one night. If you get the offer, make sure that you say yes. He is a former professional chef, and the Sri Lankan food that he served for us on our porch was some of the best that we had on our trip. Needless to say, we highly recommend this place.
