There were also many small touches that made it cosy (the extra coffe/tea bar, etc). And of course Adam, the host, was very friendly and always had good recommendations. Easy to locate, just outside the main part of the town, but only a few moments on bike or a little longer of walking down the lane to Billand town. Even though we flew in, taxi to the accommodation, we rented bikes from the owners for the duration of our stay, so we could have the local experience rather than taxi or car rental options, definitely recommend with all the bike lanes.

The hotel is a historic inn in the center of a very small town. The room is basic, but spotlessly clean and comfortable. The large bed is comfortable. The young woman who staffs the reception desk was very friendly and went out of her way to be helpful. The restaurant is huge and very nice! Apparently people come from all over the region for dinner. The large breakfast buffet has every possible option and is delicious. We really liked the fact that the hotel invited guests to pack a “to go” lunch from the breakfast buffet.

Birkende B&B’s simply decorated guest rooms feature wooden floors and a seating area. Toilets and showers are shared. Birkende was a wonderful place to stay while I was in Denmark for a conference! Conny was so welcoming and hospitable. When my travel plans got upended and I came in a day late, tired, jet-lagged, and hungry, she met me on the property and prepared a fabulous lunch of coffee, juice, meats, cheeses, fruits, and breads for me (because I had missed breakfast). This thoughtful touch to ensure the comfort of her guest was so sincerely appreciated! The room was cozy and comfortable, with everything I needed during my stay. The breakfasts were delicious and prepared early, so I could eat before flitting off for full days at my conference. And the property is peaceful and simply stunning (including their gorgeous grapevines and koi pond). It is well situated for a short drive through the beautiful countryside to both Kerteminde and Odense. I couldn't have asked for anything more!

Housed in a historic building, the recently renovated Staevnegaarden offers accommodation with a garden and free WiFi. The property features inner courtyard views and is 21 km from Hans Christian Andersens Hus and 21 km from Odense Concert Hall. The guest house has private entrance. Attention to detail and cleanliness. Indoor and outdoor! Kitchen including more than expected for guest to brew coffee/tea or cook a full meal. Recycling was easy! Comfortable beds, chairs and sofa were it’s plenty of storage and places to hang coats and shoe racks!

There is a private entrance at the bed and breakfast for the convenience of those who stay. I have travelled far and wide, stayed in every manner of hotel, bed & breakfast, or other, and yet never found a place I would truly rate as exceptional. That is, until I stayed at Pension Lærkelill. The location, just outside the village, is excellent. The hosts, an absolutely lovely couple, are excellent: kind, very well spoken, attentive to their guests' needs, and practically always available. Breakfast was excellent, with tons of options, all delicious. The rooms are excellently equipped (with a microwave and fridge, a tea kettle, tea and coffee a-plenty, and of course all the other sundry), the shower is hot and never seemed to run out of water, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The grounds are beautiful, well cared for, and lovingly invite any visitor to take a stroll down to the pond. I normally try to stay in different places when traveling, as I like to experience a wide gamut of what a country has to offer. For Pension Lærkelill, I made an exception and came back on my return trip through Denmark. If possible, the only downside was that I slept so amazingly well, I nearly woke up too late for breakfast. A sign on the wall proclaims: "Mom's hotel: always open". This place lives up to that motto.

The family-run Lunds Hotel is located by Bogense Marina in North Funen. It offers rooms with free wired internet, a furnished patio and views of Æbleø.

During summer, guests can relax and enjoy the sea views from the terrace. Gorgeous hotel in fab location. Attractive building with fabulous decor. We particularly appreciated the amazing sea view. It was perfect for our needs - spotlessly clean. The food was the best we’ve had on our tour of Denmark. Breakfast was particularly good.
