Housed in a 12th-century building, Maison Romane 1136 is located in Cluny, 230 metres from the Cluny Abbey, 20 km from Mâcon and 42 km from Chalon-sur-Saône. Superb apartment in the heart of Cluny with all the facilities we needed, very near shops and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Maison Romane 1136 which is probably one of the most fascinating places we have ever stayed. The living room/kitchen was spacious with lots of space for cooking, eating and relaxing. The bedroom was incredible with even more space and couches to relax where you could get a sense of how royalty would have lived! Our host was very helpful in terms of explaining various aspects of the apartment and access, as well as providing storage for our bicycles.

The room was very large and comfortable, in a beautiful country house with garden. Breakfast was plentiful. The hotel is a short walk into town. And the pizza restaurant next door is perfect for dinner after a long day sightseeing.

This place was really superb. You need a car to get there as it is located just outside of Dijon. It is worth getting a car just to see the place: it is essentially a mansion just outside of a now derelict cement factory that they have artfully and tastefully integrated into their property. The grounds are large, dotted with places to lounge, relax and enjoy. The swimming pool (heated!) is worth using, also because it has been built into the remains of the old factory. The entire estate is tastefully done, with no expense spared. It is no surprise that the breakfast is super, too. Deserves the 10-Star rating and well worth a stay there.
