Ryokan Asunaro: A Traditional Japanese Inn in Takayama. Nestled just a 6-minute walk from Takayama Station and the Nohi Bus Center, Ryokan Asunaro offers an authentic Japanese inn experience. We went as a group and we loved the ryokan. It was very spacious, everything was very clean, and it was conveniently located near the bus station, the train station, and the city center where most of the shopping takes place. The rooms were the most spacious we stayed in throughout Japan, and the staff were all very kind. I would definitely stay here again.

Writing this after coming back from Japan. Mozumo is the one place that made my trip 10 times better. Beyond the facilities and the insanely good food, It felt so special. Bear in mind this place is not for everybody as their checkin and eating times are very restrictive (because It's private setting), but I'm telling you It's all worth It. From the high-end van they picked me up with from the station to the huge room, the Michelin star food, the private onsen in the room, everything was magical. There is only one warning, try to be there while there is still snow and It's still cold, otherwise the onsen is gonna be way too hot. I was here alone, but can't think of a better place to stay with your partner for a cozy weekend too. One last thing: meals are served on a private setting (not a restaurant), and I had the most magical view of the snow while dinning and having breakfast. Unforgettable.

Located in 15-minute bus ride from JR Takayama Station, Guest House & Cafe SOY is surrounded by lush greenery. Free WIFi is provided and free private parking is available on site. The home was beautiful, spacious and clean. The hospitality was unbelievable, lovely, attentive, kind- I can’t say enough good things about Tai, his mother and the inn. It is gorgeous, spacious yet cozy. It was a top experience and should not be missed. The inn is an hour walk from town and is best accessed by car but Tai will pick you up and drive you around. He took us to a neighborhood we were interested in for dinner and then picked us up immediately afterwards. Breakfast was delightful and they even made a special vegetarian dish for me. Bathrooms are shared yet private. The rooms are huge and so pretty! The traditional mattresses were cozy and comfy.

Very charming and aesthetic little hotel restaurant located in the woods just out of town. With nice little onsen - showers. Fantastic cuisine and wine (let the chef-owner pic for you). And extremely friendly and accommodating owner couple happy to pick you up / drop you off in town.

Very local vibe , location was excellent . Staff were very nice and helpful. Our breakfast was delicious.

奥飛騨温泉郷の美しい風景に囲まれた「山里のいおり 草円」は、川または庭園の景色を望む和室の美しい客室を提供しています。JR高山駅からバスで80分、福地百合見坂（HO41）バス停まで徒歩3分です。 「山里のいおり... There are 3 private onsens with an indoor and outdoor area, as well as 4 shared onsens, 2 for men and 2 for women. All of them are wonderful. The rooms are also spacious and clean. The highlight was definitely the excellent dinner. The area of Hirayu Onsen is out of the way, but well worth the trip if you want to get out of the city for a bit.

Located in the centre of Takayama Historic District, Ryokan Tanabe 旅館田邊 is one of the most historical ryokans in the city. It features Japanese-style rooms and free WiFi in all areas. This was a true authentic ryokan experience. Lovely staff, perfect location and delicious dinner two nights. We slept well on double futons and enjoyed the Onsen ( sitting outside in a warm tub while it was raining was so relaxing!) We will come again if we return to Takayama!
