It has been an incredible expierence. The staff is very attentive: they explain the facilities of the ryokan, provide you with a map and point out the most important places to visit in the area. It was a pleasure, one of the best stays we have had in Japan.

Loved the quiet atmosphere, the beautiful onsen and breakfast. Shuttle bus was excellent and staff helpful.

Boasting a 200-year history, Motoyu Ishiya features classic architecture, an original Noh stage and a garden. Felt like a very traditional Japanese place, the food was absolutely incredible and very special, although sometimes hard for foreigners to eat grilled fish in the morning. The onsen on site is the best thing too.

Murataya is 2 km from JR Kanazawa Train Station and a 10-minute walk from Kenroku-en Garden. The traditional Japanese accommodation offers a public bath and free Wi-Fi access. Both the western and the Japanese breakfasts were very nice. The owners are kind and helpful. The weather was cold and snowy and rainy and windy so I hope to come back when the weather is a little nicer. But they have a device which dries out your boots when you get back!
