We could see the gate and the temple from both our room and during dinner/breakfast. The rooms are nice, big, and cozy. The meals are just incredible. We were really full after the dinner (about 10 courses). The staff was kind and helpful. They were able to prepare vegan meals for one of us. Also, they brought our luggage directly to the ferry station (they also have a pick-up service, if needed). The private onsen is amazing. I hope to come back one day!

This really is the quintessential Japanese Ryokan experience. You get a yukata when you arrive and you're free to walk around the hotel or even outside with it. I highly recommend bathing in the hot springs; I hiked to the top of Mount Misen in the day, and relaxing the sore muscles in the hot spring in the evening really was divine! Dinner was amazing; absolutely delicious and you could tell how much passion they put into creating it.

Good reasons to stay in Sakuraya: - Location (on the island Miyajima!). - Kindness of the staff. - Japanese style rooms (warning! Sleeping on a Japanese futon might be uncomfortable if you are picky with mattresses). - Onsen in the basement to get a relaxing bath at the end of the day. - Breakfast for 500 yens. The breakfast is not very generous, but it is a good deal for that price.
It seems like the Ryokan is run by a Japanese couple. The lady can speak perfect English and she was absolutely lovely. She recommended many places to visit, pointed out where to eat, and warned about opening and closing times of restaurants. She also explained how the in-house onsen works, and I was glad I had a place to relax after a long rainy day
Absolutely gorgeous self contained villa. Comfortable bed, good shower, lovely outdoor bath. Well stocked self service bar. Simple check in at the ryokan down the hill - friendly service, a great dinner and a good breakfast. Just lovely. I would love to stay here for a week or more.
Everything, what a wonderful place and so relaxing. The staff are great, the food is great and the rooms are lovely
Beautiful serenity and time out in a most relaxing hotel in a lovely town . Peaceful onsen experience . Very welcoming and pleasant staff . Highly recommend a stay .
I loved staying in a traditional Japanese hotel . We were given yukatas / robes to wear around the hotel . Very relaxing . Lovely free bar on rooftop with views to the torii gate . Great place to sit at sunset . Amazing breakfast . Went out of the way to provideVegetarian breakfast for me . Enjoyed the onsen .
Staff were very helpful. Lovely baths. Good to experience Japanese room, but very small. TV in room with YouTube and Netflix so good to relax
Exceptional location and lovely hotel. Great staff who upgraded us without asking. Shuttle bus from ferry to hotel. Traditional Japanese costumes in room were very comfortable. Quiet location with breathtaking views, yet a short walk to shops, restaurants, cafes, aquarium, etc.
Lovely place to stay, very quiet and relaxing. The food was also amazing, and the staff were very friendly.
Lovely room (they gave me a free upgrade!) and the public baths were amazing. very peaceful stay here.
