We wanted for nothing and the vibe of the hotel really helped immerse you in the local area. A great experience.

There were many common areas to dine and to rest, and the overall environment was very warm and relaxing. The onsen were also private thus you don’t have to be concerned if you’re not comfortable sharing it with strangers. Really highly highly recommend for a rejuvenating time and to connect with nature!

The hosts are kind and thoughtful and gave us very good advice for dinner locally and for our next destination. Best of all, the breakfast was delicious and kept us going all day. Our room was small, but we knew that when we booked so we were not bothered by that in any way. Aovely way to break up the trip from Tokyo to Kamikochi if you have a car and it is worth a visit just for the sake of being there.

A free shuttle is available from Yudanaka Train Station, which is a 5-minute drive away. My boyfriend and I spent a day and a night here. Lovely rooms and onsens, one male, one female and one private one under the open sky. The couple who runs the hotel couldn’t be any nicer.

The family that owns the ryokan was welcoming, kind and accommodating. The ofuro was very clean, good temperature and relaxing. About 40 minutes away from Yakebitaiyama on a snowy day, this ryojan is a wonderful stop to enjoy.

A 5-minute drive from National Treasure Matsumoto Castle, Ryokan Seifuso is next to Shinshu University and boasts a view of the Northern Alps and the freshness of the Metoba River. It is ideal for sightseeing such as Kamikochi, a mountainous scenic spot, Norikura Kogen, which has abundant trekking courses, Azumino, an original landscape of Japan blessed with Dosojin and spring water, and Utsukushigahara Kogen, which was praised by Kihachi Ozaki, a mountain poet. We were amazed by the Ryokan Seifuso. The staff was more than friendly. From the very first moment we felt welcomed. I was really sad to leave the hotel (and Matsumoto). Before coming I was concerned a bit about the shared bathroom but it was not an issue at all (and the onsen was awesome!). Ryokan is located outside of the city center but one can reach Matsumoto Castle in a pleasant walk. Should I come to Matsumoto again I would look for option to stay here!
