Featuring private open-air hot spring bath in all rooms, Isaribi is located in Hagashiizu, 2.7 km from Atagawa Hot Springs. Guests can savour Japanese breakfast and dinner in their rooms for some of the room types. The charming ryokan offers free WiFi and on-site parking. A Slice of Paradise: Our Perfect Stay at Isaribi Ryokan Every trip has those special moments that make you think, “This—this is why all the planning, long flights, and expense were worth it.” For me and my family, our one-night stay at Isaribi Ryokan was that moment during our two-week trip to Japan this fall. From start to finish, everything about our stay was flawless—I genuinely can’t imagine how it could have be any better. Writing this review is my way of saying a heartfelt thank you to Isaribi and its incredible staff for an unforgettable experience. Pre-Arrival: The Warmest Welcome The hospitality at Isaribi started long before we even arrived. From the moment I booked, the staff were in touch, making sure everything was tailored to us. They reached out to confirm our arrival time, offered to pick us up from the train station, and even asked about dietary preferences. When I mentioned that my father doesn’t like raw fish, they assured me they’d prepare cooked versions of all meals for him (and boy did they deliver—more on that later). Their kindness and attention to detail instantly put me at ease and set the tone for what was to come. Arrival and Check-In As promised, a staff member greeted us at the station and drove us to the ryokan. Upon arrival, we swapped our shoes for comfortable zori sandals—and to my relief, even my dad’s size 13 feet found sandals that fit perfectly. While we waited for our room to be ready, we were treated to matcha tea and Japanese sweets in the lobby. The airy sitting area had breathtaking sea views, and there was even a coffee and espresso machine available for guests to use anytime, with both proper cups and takeout options. It felt like they had thought of everything. The Room: A Perfect Blend of Tradition and Comfort We stayed in Room 206, which is their largest room, and it was nothing short of spectacular.

Each room at this ryokan is air conditioned and comes with a flat-screen TV. Some rooms include a seating area where you can relax. You will find a kettle in the room. Rooms include a private bathroom with a bath and shower, with slippers, free toiletries and a hair dryer provided. Open air bath was amazing!! A lot of details in the from as well as common facilities. Loved the wood interior and it’s smell.

Featuring sea views, Watei Kazekomichi provides accommodation with balcony, around 2.2 km from Atami Sun Beach. There is an on-site restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. Guests can use the hot spring bath and the open-air bath, or enjoy mountain views.

Guests can also relax in the garden or in the shared lounge area. A very good private onsen room. We didn’t go for the dinner option but judging by breakfast the chefs are very talented. We just didn’t want a kaiseki option as dinner. The beds are really comfortable and the staff go out of their way to make you comfortable. We wanted a more isolated onsen experience that focused on our privacy and that’s what we got.

Mars Garden Wood Gotenba promises its guests relaxing spa treatments, a hot spring bath and karaoke rooms, only a 10-minute drive from Gotenba Premium Outlet. It has a lush garden, a sauna and 2 restaurants. Rooms offer free wired internet, and some boast a hot spring bath. We ordered a Fuji facing room but were very disappointed to see that the room on the 6th floor’s view was blocked by a high rise building about half a kilometer away. I asked the receptionist if we could have a higher floor, and after a 10 minute search, said we could have the 10th floor room but it would cost an extra 2,000 yen ($12). Of course we agreed and the honest receptionist asked if we really wanted it, as the forecast the next day was cloud and rain, and did we really want to spend the money. We said the weather was our problem, no fault to him, and yes, we would take it. Lucky for us, the next morning we woke to a glorious view of Mt. Fuji, in a comfortable, clean room, with a high regard to the honesty and integrity of the reception personel. We enjoyed the Western breakfast as opposed the the Japanese breakfast, especially as it was served to us in a Japanese styled private room, overlooking a beautiful pond, where we saw the children feed the Koi fish on the way to school
