Guests are free to attend Buddhist morning services, the Goma fire ritual and meditation. Staff were super friendly, helpful and kind. They offered lots of services that make touring Koya-san easier, such as a night tour and baggage storage after check-out. All meditation and ceremonies had clear, informative explanations in English and Japanese. Out room was modern and very comfortable, it far exceeded our expectations.

Located in the sacred Mount Koya area, 高野山 宿坊 桜池院 -Koyasan Shukubo Yochiin- is a historic temple and an accommodation for visitors. Just to the left of entering sanmon gate, there is a stone garden created by the famous Mirei Shigemori and designated a natural monument by the Japanese government. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast and dinner were great! The bath was great! Early morning prayers were exceptional and well explained.

Ashita no Mori is located in the Kawayu Onsen district of Hongu, 20 km from Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art, 23 km from Kumanoshi Kiwakozan Museum and 33 km from Kamikura Shrine. There is an on-site restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. The property is non-smoking and is set 12 km from Hosshinmon Oji Shrine.

The guest house is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. The staff were beyond lovely. They helped me with my vegetarian meals, and also managed to contact a taxi company to pick me up from Koguchi once I was done with my hike. The private hot spring was extremely nice, and bedrooms were super comfy. They provided tea, a yukata to change into. The location is fantastic.

The traditional rooms at Yunominesou Ryokan have sliding paper screens, floor cushions and Japanese futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. Guests can relax in the Yukata robe or watch the LCD TV. All rooms include a toilet, an electric kettle and a fridge. The staff is very friendly, and the food and service are amazing!!! Highly recommended!

Located within 1.2 km of Nachikatsuura Sports and Cultural Center and 2.5 km of Fudarakusanji Temple in Nachikatsuura, Oyado Hana provides accommodation with seating area. The air-conditioned accommodation is 1.5 km from Nachi Beach, and guests can benefit from private parking available on site and free WiFi. The guest house features family rooms. It was very pleasant to stay here. The staff was super friendly, the room was cozy and the futon was very comfortable. The private onsen was amazing. The closeness to the train station is very convenient.

Located in the sacred Koyasan area, Saizenin offers simple accommodation surrounded by mountains and many temples. Originally developed as a lodging for the temples’ pilgrims, it conducts Buddhist services every morning that guests can attend. Nankai Koyasan Train Station is a 15-minute drive away. We were only there for one night. I have absolutely nothing negative to say, we would come back in a heartbeat. The traditional dinner in particular, but also the traditional breakfast, were some of the best we have ever eaten. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Value for money is very good, but don't expect a luxury hotel. The cleanliness was excellent.
