Whispering Sands Beachfront Motel is situated on Waikanae Beach, just a 10-minute walk from Gisborne city centre. It offers stunning panoramic views across Poverty Bay, with Young Nick's Head and Kaiti Hill standing in the distance. Really nice facility, modern and with fantastic view. I would have stayed longer had I known that. Peaceful but close to town center.

Beautiful location, close to Gisborne city but a world away in atmosphere! We stayed in a Podlife cabin (tiny house), surprisingly warm and cosy with modern decor & touches of luxury. Perfect place for a relaxing winter getaway

The motel was so quiet that only the sound of crashing waves could be heard in the night. We were very blessed to be upgraded to an upstairs room by the manager so the view was beautiful. Only a short walk down the boardwalk to a good restaurant. The manager is also very lovely.

Lovely setting amongst the vines. Nice wide deck to relax on. Weathered natural timber of the deck and building cladding looked great. Staff were excellent, arranging our lunch and wine tasting on our deck.

I remember this place ages ago - new owners done so much work here! We had a glamping tent booked, but due to bad weather conditions they gave us a free upgrade to Zen cabin. The cabin was so good, that we decided to spend some extra money and stay for one more night. You can also book a spa with ocean view and a barrel sauna for 45 minutes. Really an amazing place to relax. We can't wait to stay here again to watch the sunrise! Campground facilities also look great. Walk distance to Dive Tatapouri.

Checking in at reception was simple and easy and the staff were super friendly. I was absolutely blown away by the cleanliness and size of the room. The windows were open which allowed for fresh air to circulate through the room. This being my last night of 2weeks of work travel, it was lovely to be able to sit back and relax in a crisp, fresh and clean place. Could not fault this place. Thank you for ensuring your guests have a pleasant clean stay.

The rooms were clean and tidy, we got an upgrade so we had a deck that we could sit on and watch the sunrise and just enjoy, the housekeeping staff were lovely they were friendly and helpful.i would highly recommend this place to anyone it was close to the river and the beach and a short walk to town and the warehouse where we stocked up on food, the little bar fridge was great even froze the ice creams
