Most rooms have tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding, while some rooms come with a private open-air bath. The en suite bathroom comes with a hairdryer. Superlative location, right in front of Matsushima bay. The place is quiet and incredible, the staff are so kind and patient (despite of my basic Japanese, they have always tried to help me), the service is excellent. They have also adjusted the delicious breakfast for me (gluten and lactose intolerance). The room was big and with a magic view. In the main hall there is a souvenir shop with a lot of things and local products to buy. If you want, is possible to reserve and enjoy the private onsen (open-air!). This is definitely the best hotel in Matsushima! どうも ありがとう ございます。

Phenomenal stay! The staff was so friendly and professional. The views are one of the best I’ve ever seen! The onsen views are breathtaking. We also booked the private bath and it was perfect! We only had traditional breakfast and it was divine. We loved every minute of our stay here! We’ll definitely be back! Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
The staff was very helpful and with excellent English. I had a room in traditional Japanese style, it was huge and comfortable (unless you don't like sleeping on futon). I couldn't go to onsen , but it seemed really nice. And they have really good cosmetics in the bathroom.
Friendly welcome by owners, loved our Ryokan room. Bath Onsen was nice and hot
Fantastic breakfast (including sashimi and tempura), very nice hot spring (onsen), central location and great service. I’d book this hotel again.
The entrance to the metro & underground food, restaurant & shopping area is across the street, so very convenient. The spa hot spring 'onsen' bath (Not included in room price) has also a steamroom: it looks modern, well maintained and although not that large, it is very nice.
The private onsen, the futon beds, the space in the tradition room the view from room
I loved the friendly family greeting as I arrived after a very long day of touring Sendai and Matsushima. The place was exactly as advertised...a traditional Japanese Inn which is what I expected. A large tatami room, slightly dated, but with everything I needed for a comfortable night's stay and great value for money, even adding the taxi fare from the port. Hot water instantly in the in-room tub and very clean. It is ten minutes walk to Matsushima Station, but further from the main tourist activity near Matsushima Kaigan Station.
A traditional japanese style ryokan, with all the bells and whistles: tatami floor, futon beds, yukata, own onsen. The room was lovely, the food tasty and the owners extremely friendly. Can only recommend.
Comfy rooms, fresh sheets, yukata. Tatami mats are clean and comfy. Friendly couple and cute dogs!! We felt very welcome. Please use „Takagimachi“ if you come by train and have luggage, better streets/concrete and space on the sidewalk. Best thing: tattoo-friendly Onsen on 3rd floor!!!
