Historical Ryokan SENYUKAN is ideaal gelegen in de wijk Owani Onsen in Ōwani, en is gelegen op 43 km van Archeologische vindplaats Sannai-Maruyama, 17 km van kasteel van Hirosaki en 42 km van Sukayu... Exceptional service from manager and staff. We arrived after dinner time, and the manager, cheff and staff stayed on to serve us delicious food. Thank you very much. Will san New Zealand.

Tabinoyado Saikawa bevindt zich in Kuroishi, op 33 km van Towada-meer, en biedt accommodatie met gratis WiFi en gratis privéparkeren. This is a traditional Japanese ryokan with public baths (gender separated). Dinner and breakfast are amazing and plentiful, with locally sourced organic produce (even coffee!). Our room (Japanese room with private toilet) was to the left of the entrance. It was very spacious. The heater worked very well as autumn night was a bit damp and cold. The beds are futons on wood bed frames on tatami, and they are super comfortable. As I have a whole-leg tattoo which is usually not permitted in the public baths, I notified Ranko in advance, and she reserved the private bath for us. The private bath was a very beautiful blue ceramic bath filled with warm (I don’t think it’s very hot) healing hot spring water from the area. Ranko’s warm personality really made the stay memorable. Be sure to ask her for recommendations of the areas. She is a well of knowledge of the area!

Kameya Hotel ligt in Tsuruoka, op 3,5 km van Kamo Aquarium, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin en gratis privéparkeren. Amazing Hotel, even though it is a very traditional and old place, the rooms are very modern and renovated with all the amenities one can think of. Onsen is good too, but very hot. The beach is literally just across the road! The rooms all have an ocean view. Staff is extremely friendly and breakfast is also great. Just watch out to book dinner if possible, as there are not many options to eat around town if you don’t want to take the car.

Ichiraku tendo spa & brewery bevindt zich in Tendo, op 30 km van skigebied Zao Onsen, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis privéparkeren, een gedeelde lounge en een terras. The tatami room was lovely and the bed very comfortable for a futon type. There are a number of different style rooms. We especially booked a room with a private outdoor shower and bath. The food was superb in every respect. There were a number of beers available and, surely, there is a taste to appeal to everyone. The staff were caring and took time to understand the hotel guests. The communal bath was nice and the outdoor areas in general were pleasant. The test of a hotel is to positively answer the question, 'would you stay here again?' Our answer is that we returned after visiting here a year ago, except this time we doubled the length of our stay.

Takasagoya Ryokan bevindt zich in Zao Onsen. De ryokan met 3 sterren biedt een restaurant en heeft kamers met airconditioning, gratis WiFi, en een gedeelde badkamer. Warmest accommodations I’ve ever received. I loved every aspect of the place - sleeping, living, dining, showering, onsen, accessibility to the slopes. This is a beautiful place! The owners were very nice and they were very forgiving of our mistakes and helped out with our request.

Okawaso biedt accommodatie met gratis WiFi en een restaurant in Aizuwakamatsu, op 13 km van Aizu Higashiyama Onsen. Elke kamer in deze ryokan is voorzien van airconditioning en een televisie. We wanted to visit the so-called Demon Slayer castle hotel. It’s out of the way so we rented a car rather than take transit. The drive itself was four hours from Tokyo. From the parking lot staff, to front desk, housekeeping and everyone there… the staff were all amazingly kind and patient. Not everyone speaks English, but there are a few. The rooms are spacious, clean, and very ryokan style (tatami) and the onsen was super clean. We had Kaiseki dinner and it was quite the experience. Food was delicious at dinner and the buffet lunch was traditionally Japanese. The stand out for us was the AIZU yogurt and AIZU maple syrup made from local chestnut trees. If anyone at Ookawaso reads this, please accept our thank you. You were all wonderful and we hope to visit from Canada again someday. Thank you for your patience with my eight year old son and our horrible Japanese.

Tokinenoyado Yunushi Ichijoh is situated in the Kamasaki Onsen district in Shiroishi, a 15-minute drive from Shiroishi Station and Shiroishi-Zao Station. Where to begin? The room was excellent in size and had a nice feeling to it. The onsen was close by. The staff was so kind and service minded. The whole experience with dinner and breakfast was exceptional, especially the staff member whom served us with excellent English. Just the whole experience was quite wonderful.

Hohoemino Kuyufu Tsuruya heeft natuurlijke warmwaterbronnen en ligt op 15 minuten lopen van het JR-station Tendo en op 50 km van Sendai. Een heerlijk luxe ryokan. We hebben genoten van de ruime kamers, zachte bedden en het warme bad buiten. Personeel was echt super lief en verwende ons met heerlijk eten.
