Everything went well at Oasis Bacalar, from the moment I booked my room, the staff sent me valuable information about the hotel and a 7day guide with great activities, staff is super helpful , warm and they go beyond expectations with requests for tours and general inquiries, Mario was wonderful , assisting me in all that I needed. Truly enjoyed my stay at the Colibri suite that for one person traveling is just perfect! they take care of all the small details like a tiny hair drier and a coffee/tea maker.

This hotel was a real gem of a find. It's right on the lagoon which is stunning and the rooms and staff are top notch. It's not 5 star but it felt it given the stunning location and how helpful the staff were. Food was also very good, reasonably priced and open all day. Only 150 pesos to get in town and they have a great affiliate who does private boat trips which i'd recommend. Take some mosquito spray and be sure to see the sun rise on the lagoon it was majestically still

The lagoons were out of this world gorgeous and relaxing.
The lagoons were out of this world gorgeous and relaxing. Everyone we interacted with was pleasant, kind and gracious. The restaurant options were remarkable considering the small size of the town. We didn't explore much outside our hotel and Centro Bacalar, however there were many options for great day trips and tours nearby. It was easy to fly into Chetumal and take a taxi to Bacalar.
We ate many times at Xant Ha since we stayed at the Maya Bacalar Hotel, and it was fantastic! El Manati had fantastic food and the art gallery with gift shop was a bonus. La Playita has incredible atmosphere right on the water and the service was excellent. Food here was just OK. We had a great time getting to know the owner at Sweet Child of Wine, and she served us tasty tapas as we sipped local wines. Enjoyed our meal at Nao Sushi, great location on the water.

It is a beautiful lake located close to Chetumal.
It is a beautiful lake located close to Chetumal. The tour on the lake takes you to the different cenotes, with time to swing in those colorful waters, it is really beautiful.
We found a nice restaurant called Waah, the food was delicious, all dishes are prepared from scratch. Excellent.
The city is small and peaceful. There is a fort San Felipe to visit.

We enjoyed being able to swim from the hotel dock. We had a car and drove to restaurants. Restaurants were in walkable distance if need be.
You can easily see lake Bacalar in 2 full days. A boat tour of the lake does it all.

Bacalar is a small town, not much to do, the lagoon is beautiful but the tours are expensive and with time the massive turism will damage the lagoon. They don't have the infrastructure to protect nature from garbage and people waste.

Bacalar is wonderful and feel safe and welcoming.
I had love every minutes of my stay.
It s easy to walk around.
The hostel Lahar douwtown has a super friendly vibes and it really made it fun to be in Bacalar.
We had a great stay at Amigos Hotelito! Our room was clean, had a great view of the lagoon, and was very cozy. Horacio was very responsive when we needed help or recommendations on where to eat. We swam every day off the private dock and we were able to use kayaks for free as part of our stay. Horacio also helped us organize a sailing tour of the lagoon. Wifi, A/C, and parking were all great as well. We will definitely stay here the next time we come to Bacalar!
Good location if you want swimmable lake access, 7 minute walk to free public pier at end of calle 36. 15 minutes to supermarket, 25 to ADO. Basic no frills budget hotel, hot shower, air con worked good, Wi-Fi in reception intermittent like everywhere in Mexico. Pay attention to photo of hotel, no sign or street number. Across from school. The 2 ladies who work reception friendly and helpful. Took the boat tour they booked for me ( no tours Wednesdays).
Beautifully designed, unique boutique hotel with such a warm, welcoming vibe. The staff are amazing, so genuinely friendly and helpful. Lots of different spaces to enjoy in the hotel such as the rooftop terrace with wonderful view of the lagoon, a lounge area, swimming pool and garden. Location was perfect, a few mins walk away from the lagoon, restaurants and bars. I was sad to leave and I felt so relaxed after my stay.
Great hostel right on the edge of the lagoon. Perfect for having a relaxing swim in the morning as the sun rises. The staff is very friendly and cheerful. The atmosphere is very happy and it is a perfect place to meet fellow backpackers who travel around Mexico. Amazing decoration of the hostel for Dia de Muertos. The food at the bar is excellent, for breakfast, lunch or dinner and Romina is a great waitress:)
Everything. You can chill around the hotel everywhere. They made it lake the lagoon Bacalar with different depths in pools. Very cool. Besides that, they are an eco boutique which means they filter the water and use it again for the plants, they have their own chickens and beehives for honey. Breakfast is super yummy because of this; fresh. Also the location is perfect!
We had a great stay and were really happy with our room with a view of the lagoon! The staff was helpful and friendly and we got a lot of help with information about activies in Bacalar. The whole hotel area is very beautiful and we had a really great time hanging out by the dock in the hammocks and swimming in the lagoon. Big recommendation!
Hunberto and his wife just made a perfect little paradise in Bacalar. They are so kind and they have so many great recommendations. We even booked a sailing tour, which was just beautiful and a beautiful adventure. The bikes are pretty good too and for free.
Just all in all the best place we stayed at, in 3 weeks in Mexico.
The hotel has a great location and was great to have both AC and a fan.
The man on reception was SO helpful with all our requests and we appreciated his kind manner.
It was great to have filtered water easily accessible at all times. Also great to have a deadbolt on the door which we haven’t found in many places in Mexico.
The location is perfect ! right by the water can’t do any better ! the cabana is really great ! I have seen comments about the bathroom not having a door, I can confirm it has a door now.
The place is really beautiful, probably our best stay in Mexico
the paddle and kayak available are also a really great addition
It's a cosy little hotel run by a family. They are all very nice and helpful. They give us a lot of tips what else to do and see in this part of Mexico. The garden with the pool is beautiful. The pool was clean an well maintained, our kid's loved it. Would definitely come back again.
This was by far our best stay in México. The property is beautiful, the food is great and the staff is very friendly. We celebrated our anniversary with a romantic dinner on the pier by the lake and it was truly beautiful. The staff made it happen. Will stay again!
The staff at Cedro Rojo are very accomodating and make you feel at home. It is a great place to enjoy the quiet of Bacalar yet also with plenty of places to eat in the streets around the hotel. It is a very nice Mexican neighbourhood to experience Mexican life.
The room, atmosphere, people and food, everything was amazing!! would definitely stay here again when visiting Bacalar and recommend it to others! The staff was very lovely and helpful and the way the hotel and its facilities looked were breathtaking
Very cosy hotel near center of Bacalar. Short walking distance to the lake. Very clean place and best breakfast in our trip in México - fresh fruits and juice and different kind of Mexican and internacional style options every morning!
The breakfast was good but the service was slow according to US standards but pretty consistent with the layback life in Mexico. I really love the hammocks and chairs set out in front of each room. A wonderful place to chill.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The best hotel we had in Mexico, a really nice pool, the rooms were super clean, good airco. Nice breakfast. They have free bicycles to use. Perfect location, close to the port.
The room is very small and very dirty, also the sink is in the middle of the room and not in the bathroom. There are a lot of other good and cheap hotels in bacalar.
Do yourself a favor and don’t go there.
The hotel is cute, very chill atmosphere, nice staff. It is very well located, it is a short and easy walk to the center of Bacalar where you can enjoy the activities and restaurants/bars.
Tasty breakfast served on the covered patio overlooking Laguna Bacalar. Access from the hotel to the laguna. Kayaks and paddle boards free for the guests.
This Hotel has the most helpful, friendly owner you can imagine. The rooms are cute, very clean and quiet, which is uncommon in Mexico in my experience.
