The only tricky piece about this spot is getting here off the main road. While it isn’t a far distance you really should have 4WD. The road is tight and severe switchbacks. You also need to bring in food with you especially if you don’t have a car. Each unit is exquisitely designed to allow you to cook dinners indoors or out with a regular sized fridge and freezer to boot. To say this place is magical might be a vast understatement. We spent the late afternoon hiking up to the scenic lookout (although each unit has its own incredible views and privacy for late nights in the hot tub). We spent the next 2 hours by the pool which given how hot it is actually had cool water for swimming and lovely shaded lounge chairs. We brought in drinks and a pizza with us for our evening and it was perfect. We turned off all the lights and just sat outside watching the moon rise over the mountains as the sunset. After we spent hours soaking in the hotel tub watching more stars appear in the sky. Just magical! The interior is well appointed too with great bedding, linens, towels and vegan shower products that smelled and felt like luxury after having traveled for so long. For breakfast the following morning, we were brought a delicious selection of fresh fruit, granola, yogurt, croissants, cheese and more! Each unit it also outfitted with a tea pot, tea, a moka coffee maker and ground coffee! If we ever have the chance to come back to the Elqui Valley we will 1000% book this spot again! Also - be sure when in the area to book the 3 hours tour and wine tasting at vinedos de alcohauz! The guide essentially gave us the entire history of the area from different stops along the tour that changes in elevation 5 times! The vineyard is magnificent.

It is set 300 metres from Gabriela Mistral Building and offers a shared kitchen. Featuring a private entrance, the guest house allows guests to maintain their privacy. Very good location near the bus station. La Serena is easy to explore on foot from there. The room was very cozy, complete with house slippers and bathrobe, and the common kitchen was complete for my needs. There was enough parking space in front on the streets, and because I visited during a holiday period, I didn't need to pay for parking. Victor was very accommodating and asked proactively to make sure everything was alright with my stay.
