What truly made it special were the people. The staff were honestly the kindest and most welcoming I’ve ever met. The place itself is beautiful, the breakfast was delicious and every moment felt relaxed and special. We left with full hearts and great memories. Can’t wait to come back here someday. Standing on No. 1 of Sanlitun, InterContinental Beijing Sanlitun is centrally positioned in the edgy hub of modern Beijing. Serene, classy and exquisite. The gym is pretty well equipped and the spa in this hotel is a must, although comes at its own cost. Overall, very homely and I would recommend you stay here if is your first time in Beijing.

Het NUO Hotel Beijing ligt dicht bij het chique 798 Art District. Dit hotel is een ware schatkamer van kunstwerken. Het bevindt zich op 15 minuten wandelen van het metrostation Jiangtai (lijn 14). The property is superb. We’ve always wanted to spend some time there, as we often went there for lunch before COVID. We finally did. Best money ever spent. Seriously, the bed was incredibly comfortable and had the remote control to position the mattress according to one’s liking. The terry cloth and the towels were of excellent cotton. Thick and absorbent. The breakfast was included and it was delish. The service excellent.

Waldorf Astoria Beijing artfully blends rich Chinese tradition and modern sophistication along the prestigious Jinyu Hutong in Wangfujing. We have stayed at many so-called 5 star accommodations in China, but this is the first hotel to actually deliver. Staff throughout the the entire facility were solicitous, helpful, and smiling. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, with many items made fresh to order and brought to the table. Staff were fantastic at the buffet rapidly supplying anything we asked for, and doing so with a smile. The rooms were fantastic: beautiful decor, lovely bathrooms, luxurious linens and all of it suffused with the rich fragnrances of Aesop toiletries. The spa and locker room facilities were clean and well supplied--the steam room was a wonderful treat. We were even able to enjoy a few minutes in the pool with no swim lessons! We are not really lap-swimmers, but enjoy a good dip, and have found ourselves frowned at in most Chinese hotel pools (pools are apparently for exercise, not fun!). Note to expats: BJ has a strict mandatory swim cap rule. Friendlier hotels will offer swim cap loans to foreign guests (not so friendly ones force you to buy caps if you want to swim--kids and adults alike!), but the Waldorf was kind enough to say nothing, allowing us to swim capless (imagine! The freedom!). Finally, hooray for massage therapist Angela, she was magnificent--a true luxury experience!
