John was great - he provided us with most of the info we needed when we got there, and was responsive to questions. The place is close to everything in Windermere, including the bus that goes to the other towns. I would stay here again any time.

In a peaceful residential area of Windermere, this friendly guest house is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Bowness in the Lake District is a 10-minute walk away. We had a fantastic stay at Thornbank Guest House in Bowness-on-Windermere. It’s run by Jane and Mark who are a lovely, lively couple who made us feel genuinely welcome. The rooms were beautifully kept: spotless, cozy, and very comfortable. The location is excellent. Just a 10 minute walk from the shops, restaurants, and attractions around Windermere. Breakfast was great every morning and really set us up for the day. Jane was incredibly helpful, offering great tips on where to go, what to book, and the best timing for different activities, which made a big difference to our experience. All in all, a very pleasant stay. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Lake District!
