Onyado Nono Matsumoto Natural Hot Spring is voorzien van kamers in Matsumoto, dicht bij station Matsumoto en Kasteel Matsumoto. One of the best hotels that I’ve stayed in Japan. It’s a traditional Japanese style hotel with no shoes policy, which makes the experience even better. Super clean and spacious rooms. Amazing onsen and free soba after 9.30 PM.

Tawaraya ligt op 5 minuten lopen van treinstation Yudanaka. Het beschikt over accommodaties in Japanse stijl met gratis WiFi en een flatscreen-tv. This is an amazing place to visit. The staff are so helpful and nice. The outdoor onsen is fantastic, and we loved that we could reserve a private time there. The large sleeping/livingroom is super place to sleep and relax.

Onyado Hishiya Torazo ligt in het gebied Shibu met warmwaterbronnen en beschikt over accommodaties in Japanse stijl. Geweldige ryokan met geweldige eigenaren. De uitstraling van die pand is echt precies wat je wilt van een ryokan. De onsen zijn ook erg mooi en sowieso is het erg leuk om in je yukata door shibu te lopen en alle 9 onsen te doen voor geluk! Het ontbijt was fantastisch en kan ik zeker aanraden. We werden erg blij van deze nacht en baalden dat we niet nog een nachtje konden blijven

蔕 Heta Nozawa Onsen heeft een bar, en ligt in Nozawa Onsen in de regio Nagano, op 22 km van skigebied Ryuoo Ski Park en 33 km van Jigokudani Monkey Park. What a gem this place is!! This was our first time in Japan and wanted to go somewhere that maintained a lot of the local culture. This is that place. It feels brand new! Comfortable beds, nice private bathrooms and all the amenities you could want. We stayed in the double room on the lower level. There is a waterfall right outside the room where all night you can hear the soothing sounds of the babbling brook. It was some of the best sleep of my life with that white noise in the background. We really enjoyed the private bath/sauna every day after skiing. The main gondola is only an 8 minute walk from the room. The bar downstairs was incredible, we stopped to have a lemon sour every evening before dinner. Kazu,who manages the bar downstairs, was our favorite! He made our trip so lovely. We (as Americans) wanted coffee first thing in the morning, and when we told him that, he brought us a nespresso maker so we could have it in our room. How thoughtful and special! Also, Akari who cleans the rooms was so kind and went out of her way to speak to us and offer any assistance about places to eat, etc. This place is truly the most comfortable and amazing spot in Nozawa. I can’t say enough good things about it. Aesthetically pleasing, accommodating, and easy access to the ski resort. Absolutely amazing.

阿智星降りの宿やま星 Hotel&Glamp YAMABOSHI is gelegen in Achi, op 2,5 km van Achi Shrine, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis privéparkeren, een restaurant en een bar. This is a quaint and beautiful property in stargazing village Aichi. If you arrive before 5pm you can have welcome drinks at the lobby. The dinner is unique with Salmon and Horsemeat Sashimi, coal BBQ with scallops, Unagi, prawns, fish, shabu shabu sukiyaki style with marbled wagyu beef that is thinly sliced (melts in your mouth) and lots of fresh vegetables. The sesame tofu with jellified soup was unique. We enjoyed the dinner very much - extremely generous portions - they made the salmon corn rice dish into onigiris so we could pack back to the room because we could not finish. There is a small and very clean onsen in the hotel, the girls and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The hotel room had Japanese style robes that you could wear for dinner and throughout the hotel. It was very comfortable and an enjoyable experience. Breakfast was again impressive. Western style breakfast was sliced potato gratin with sausages and tomato or garlic ranch sauce served with 3 types of bread with margarine and apple jam (white, wheat and tomato bun). The bread was served warm. The Japanese style breakfast came with a bucket of warm Japanese fluffy rice, and a basket of condiments like seaweed, preserved vegetables and plums, lotus, scrambled eggs. There was some hot soup and tea that you can pour over rice. They also served us freshly hand ground coffee and some matcha. The kids had apple juice. At 9pm there is a complimentary stargazing opportunity - Hama-san was very friendly, showing us the different constellations and setting up the telescope to show us the moon and Saturn with its rings. The night we were there 8 Sep 9pm there was a super full bright moon, so it outshone the stars. Despite that we still saw Vega, Ursa Major and Scheat a star in Pegasus (a red giant). When I woke up in the middle of the night to use the washroom - I saw Orion’s Belt and Sirius in Canis Major. The kids enjoyed the glamping room, which had up to 6 beds.

Shoraiso ligt in Yamanouchi, op 4,1 km van Jigokudani Monkey Park, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis privéparkeren, een gedeelde lounge en een terras. We had a great stay at Shoraiso for our honeymoon in December. Service is unparalleled and the staff are doing above and beyond to make us feel like home without being intrusive. We love the elephant decor of the room and the beautifully landscaped garden, and the private onsen is definitely the highlight of our trip. Breakfast and dinner are included and the food is just exceptional (very tasty with fresh local ingredient and creative presentation). The location is quite convenient - 45min train from Nagano to Yudanaka station and hotel is just a few min drive away (the hotel can arrange pick up). Monkey park is quite close (around 15min taxi away). Overall we couldn’t recommend this hotel more!

Le Sauna Villa Hakuba by JAMSZ ROYALE is gelegen in Hakuba, op 8 km van skigebied Tsugaike Kogen, en biedt accommodatie met een terras, gratis WiFi, een 24-uursreceptie, en een conciërgedienst. Solomon was an awesome, accommodating host , Le Sauna villa was a wonderful retreat and snow conditions at Hakuba unrivalled ❄️

Restmance Pension Woody Hill bevindt zich in Iiyama, op 25 km van skigebied Ryuoo Ski Park en 30 km van Jigokudani Monkey Park. This was one of the best stays in any pension house I had all over Japan. The hosts really made it feel like home. The owner took us to onsen every evening and we shared dinner/drinks in the evening as well. Recently renovated and everything was really nice. Parking spots were available and it was a short walk up to the ski resort. If you were not going to ski during the day, you can work with ample space in the lodge to set up.

Hakuba Momiji ligt in Otari, op 2,3 km van het skigebied Tsugaike Kogen. Het biedt directe toegang tot de skipistes, rookvrije kamers, gratis WiFi in de hele accommodatie en een tuin. Beautiful place with beautiful people. We had an amazing time and would have liked to stay longer! Big thanks to everyone in the team, especially Julien, the lovely chef and Hugo our travel manager 😉👌
