Staying at the Hotel in Pietra was an unforgettable experience that went beyond my usual expectations for a hotel stay. We decided to splurge a little extra and stayed at one of the suites. The room was beyond our expectations, and absolutely beautiful and magical! The building, or cave, is a perfect restoration of a historical church, with attention to detail that preserves its ancient beauty while providing modern luxuries. The staff at Hotel in Pietra were exceptionally welcoming and attentive. They were knowledgeable about the area and offered great recommendations for exploring Matera. The location of the hotel is ideal. It's conveniently situated to enjoy the best of the city’s sights. I highly recommend Hotel in Pietra to anyone visiting Matera. The place is excellent! In every way! Spectacular location, good service (includes pick-up and drive back to parking as the hotel is in Sassi area and trafic is restricted there), very very good breakfast with local cheese and meats choices. We wished to stay for additional night, but the hotel was fully booked... and no wonder why... very much recommended!

Excellent location for visiting the Sassi. In the centre of the old town but still accessible for taxi drop off and also close to the station. Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room. The decor was a very Italian mix of traditional and modern.

Everything about this hotel was perfect. The people from front desk were very nice and helpful, the common areas of the hotel were very nice, the location and the views stunning!! We rented the room with the little terrace and was just perfect, so beautiful and very comfortable. The breakfast was amazing!! delicious and lots of variety. I would defintely come back to this hotel if visiting Matera again. Hope i can. Matera and the hotel were 10/10

Great central little hotel, literally 3 minutes' walk to Matera's main square. Very friendly and helpful staff, quiet location despite its centrality. Good wifi. Free street parking very tricky to find (but available around the hotel) but we found paid for parking round the corner (1 euro/hour from 8am to 8.30pm but free of charge between 8.30pm and 8am).
