The cave room was amazing, the view from the terrace to drink or eat a takeaway meal was gorgeous, the breakfast great… all in all a perfect place to break up a trip from Amalfi coast to Sicily ! One afternoon/ night was good to feel the place. Enough time Great eateries close I would highly recommend a trip to Matera and a stay at il Belvedere

The building, or cave, is a perfect restoration of a historical church, with attention to detail that preserves its ancient beauty while providing modern luxuries. The staff at Hotel in Pietra were exceptionally welcoming and attentive. They were knowledgeable about the area and offered great recommendations for exploring Matera. The location of the hotel is ideal. It's conveniently situated to enjoy the best of the city’s sights. I highly recommend Hotel in Pietra to anyone visiting Matera. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or a historical adventure, this hotel promises a stay filled with comfort, beauty, and excellent hospitality.

Spazio Gagarin Residence is situated in Matera, 1.3 km from Casa Grotta nei Sassi and less than 1 km from Tramontano Castle. This 3-star hotel offers a concierge service and luggage storage space. Free WiFi is available and private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. Beautiful rooms, newly renovated, spacious and clean. Beds were extremely comfortable. Staff was polite, helpful and accommodating. Location was perfect, a short walk to the city centre, Palombaro Lungo and Sassi!

This 3-star hotel offers luggage storage space. The hotel also features free WiFi as well as a paid airport shuttle service. The hotel was clean and very comfortable. The AC was cold and the WiFi fast. We were able to park our car in a lot in front of the hotel or in the underground garage. Best of all, the staff was extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. I would highly recommend!

We stayed in May 2025. Very helpful friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Very good value for money for both the hotel and restaurant.

Il Borgo Ritrovato - Albergo Diffuso is situated in Montescaglioso, 17 km from Casa Grotta nei Sassi and 18 km from Matera Cathedral. This 3-star hotel offers room service, luggage storage space and free WiFi. Some units at the property have a balcony with a city view. I loved everything! The room was so clean, spacious, and authentic. I rented a car to get there from the airport and it was safely parked on the street in front of the hotel. The breakfast consisted of freshly made items and fruit. Coffee (latte, cappuccino, Americano) and juice were served. The staff were exceptional! I worried about being alone in a foreign place. They went above and beyond. Lucia not only made it possible for me to find lost family records in town hall (an amazing feat), but she guided me to friendly, familiar people and places and made me feel like I was home. I can’t wait to go back!
