The beach is very nice, but the waiters are not so much responsive or quick.
I booked a garden view room, but I got a room with no view, my room view was the isle between rooms.
The breakfast was very good, if only the staff was more quick and responsive, also breakfast time should extend for maybe one more hour.

In general, the hotel was okay, with an excellent location.
In general, the hotel was okay, with an excellent location. However, there were some issues to address:
The breakfast had a good variety of food, but unfortunately, warm items were cold. When I requested my sausages to be reheated, they were returned cold, accompanied by a surprised question about wanting them hot. It would be better if the staff anticipated the preference for warm breakfast items.
The bed was so uncomfortable, causing back pain every morning. I tried all sides of mattress, and anyways there was a pit regardless of the position. This might be specific to only my bed, but it needs attention.
The restaurant offers good food at reasonable prices, and the waiters speaks good English and are polite ( except trainees)
Cleanless! Room was clean and tide, but there were several diferent bugs around, but its Africa, you just need to ask to spray your room for bugs (i asked but they never did) and you need to ask for wc paper and ask for clean towels. Water pression in the shower and hot water was very good.
Unfortunately AC didnt wor for last 2 nights. I guess a gas just finished, but noone came to check on it, just excuses about low voltage. Well, when voltage was low even fridge was not working, bet when voltage restored AC and fridge worked excellent. Water got frozen in the fridge in 1h - so thats not a low voltage at all.
Despite the issues, I tought I would consider to come back, but after last 2 nights struggles, I doubt about it.
Particularly I would suggest a room with a sea view and small private pool, keeping in mind that perfection may not exist in every aspect, especially in a place like Zanzibar.

The internet is going to tell you Kendwa has the most beautiful beach in Zanzibar....it has not....not at all....yes, the beach is nice and wide and white.....but there is no vegetation at all, it's full of sunbeds and umbrellas from the resorts/hotels....way to many traders and not much to offer than going up and down, only to then retreat to your hotel or some place with shade....if you come here for drinks or a party, fine, but don't waste all of your vacation here, when there are many other cheaper and more beautiful places on the island...

Kendwa beach in its self is one of the best I have been too and I have been a regular beach traveller worldwide for the last 40 years. The only advice I would suggest would be to vet the hotel thoroughly as sunseabar was not upto standard it advertised. Go out into local restaurants we tried 4 different ones all were superb so far superior to the hotel

Clean, small and quiet guest house right on the beach!
Clean, small and quiet guest house right on the beach! They welcome you with a delicious fresh tropical juice! It is nice to see local people and fishermen living just next door. In the other hand thou, the front sea is full of boats that make swimming a bit complicated. The staff is very kind. Rooms are sober but clean and furnitures are nicely wooden. Breakfast is in range(no buffet, no choice) but good. Very much recommended place. I would definitely return there.

Kendwa is the perfect beach holiday.
Kendwa is the perfect beach holiday.
This is the only area bot effected by tides.
The beach is wonderful and offers great places to eat. Kendwa rocks offers a great BBQ with live entertainment on Saturdays.
This is a budget 2/3 star hotel so just keep your expectations real. For the reasonable price you get access to the awesome beach, where low tide is not an issue unlike in other parts of the island, full sea view (choose high floor) and spacious room.
We stayed with a family of four in 2 interconnected rooms with a fridge and kettle. Modern bathroom, hot water and AC. They have their own generator so you still have electricity and water during shut downs.
Great hospitality - thank you Alexey!
Very large property with amenities such as volleyball playground. Staff was brilliant. Many beach beds to choose from. European room standards - very good ventilation, isolating materials. I’ve stayed in a couple other hotels in Zanzibar for 100$ a night which looked more authentic, more African, but after a while one could feel a humid and conversations of neighbours. That was only hotel I slept well. That’s nice to see wooden huts on the beach, not necessarily staying in overnight 😇
This Hotel was good for 3 reasons:
* Mustafa - what an absolutely nice host and excellent manager. He went above and beyond and was available via whatsapp to answer questions about literally everything. Great guy, Thank you, Mustafa.
* Air Conditioning - Zanzibar is hot. HOT! And the much need air conditioning is there for you. It is very powerful and had no outages. What a blessing.
* Security - I felt rather safe inside the building.
This is by far the best resort in Zanzibar, everything was beyond our expectations. The beach and the views are absolutely incredible, very rich breakfast, extremely delicious food, very clean and luxurious villa and everything is TOP!!! The fire on the beach at sunset is brilliant and we felt very safe, the staff is really doing their best. Your only regret will be when you leave.
PS: we really loved yoga with Claudia
Generally its a really good place. We had wonderful stay there. It is just right on the beach. A lot of sunbeds. Really nice breakfasts. Friendly Staff. This part of the beach is the best one on the west Coast. Water is amazing.
Zanzibar is expensive but if you decide to go there, choose Kendwa rocks. I checked few other places and cost wise it was best option in Zanzibar (I took the cheapest room)
The staff was so helpful, we arrived at midnight and they were waiting for us to greet us and show us the amenities offered by the hotel. The management went above and beyond to make sure we spent a lovely vacation. The rooms were clean, the food was top notch, and the view was AMAZING!! You cannot beat the location of Lazy Beach hotel, especially the breathtaking views from the rooftop restaurant.
- very clean
- cleaning all room every day
- bedding change every day
- towels changed every second day
- beautiful view from the window
- very comfortable bed
- good and full breakfast
- very nice sunbeds area on the beach and pool area with chairs too
- good location if you're planning to go to Kendwa Full Moon Party - just few minutes by the beach to Kendwa Rocks
Good hotel with good facilities. The man in charge is wonderful at helping you with every need and all the staff is so friendly and fun! Great place for the full moon parties at Kendwa Rocks as it is a very short distance to the beach. It is included sun beds and pool at the beach which is a big plus! Stayed there two times already in a month, will definitely come back!
We stayed in Kendwa Rasta style during our travels in Zanzibar, whole property is just amazing, Daniela and Carlos were very helpful and very welcoming! The bungalows are charming and we felt here like at home, breakfast was superb and distance to the beach just around 10mins walking, when I have opportunity to come back to Zanzibar I will definitely stay again here!
The personals was very kind and helpful. They are always here when you need them. We feel like at home. You have the most beautiful beach of zanzibar at 250 meters.
The breakfast was very good and fresh, you have a lot of choices.
Thank you Amina for your service (she’s at the front desk), you are amazing.
The hotel has a perfect location in Kendwa Beach, the room was always cleaned and the breakfast was very good.
Most of the staff was nice, smiling and always trying to help you.
I would definitely recommend Sunset Kendwa Beach hotel, because its on the best location and good price.
It’s the second time I visit this hotel , it one of the best hotels in the north area, from the location side and price .
Rooms and excellent and clean with a rich breakfast and reasonable prices for food and rooms
The service and the management are so nice
The hotel is located near the sea.
The private beach described in the offer is only a few ruined beds with the remains of canopies.
The hotel is clean, the service is very nice.
Breakfast at a nearby restaurant.
Frequent power outages.
In general I like the property, it feels like I am child again and enjoying time in the Summer camp. It was close to the best beach in Zanzibar and Renate is really nice woman. Welcoming, friendly, full of positive vibe.
This may be the best hotel I've ever stayed at. The personalized service was exceptional, and everything about our stay was amazing. The villa was incredible and the food and drinks were delicious.
Amazing design and room size, located by one of the best beach in Zanzibar, quality food and very quiet in April. We were also allowed a very late check-out at no extra charge.
